    I have this keyboard...

    These three keys hint at mute and volume control.

    Question is, how do I get the alternate functions to work?

    You have to load software. Check to see what came with the keyboard.
    I can't tell from the logo the brand of keyboard.

    Yeah, as usual, plodr is right. You have to load specific software for keyboards to enable the extra features of a keyboard. Otherwise, the operating system is just going to use basic drivers for standard keyboard functions.

    Having said that, I see a Fn key on the right side of your space bar, next to the right-Ctrl key. You might try that.

    Function key did the trick. Unfortunately a stroke disabled my left side, and one hand can't make the stretch. I verified it worked by pressing the Fn key with a pen between my teeth. Sticky keys didn't work. Any apps that might be of assistance? Maybe a hotkey shortcut?

    Sorry about your health issues. Hopefully time and PT will help with that.

    I did not realize Microsoft's Sticky Keys applet does not work with the Fn key. But from what I am reading, you are right, it doesn't. :( And sadly, I cannot find any alternative accessibility software to use instead of Sticky Keys. I would think someone on your health care team could at least point you in the right direction.

    I personally am not a fan of voice recognition software, but W10's Cortana may help - if using W10.

    In the meantime, once again, your keyboard's own software program might help. And hopefully plodr or another reader will be more successful than me at finding a viable solution for you.

    Volume control in Windows 10:
    Hey Cortana, Volume up or Hey Cortana Volume down.
    Please let us know if this works.
    I don't think Mute is possible because then Cortana would not hear commands.

    Here are other voice commands

    you might find some that are better than pressing the keys. Cortana will "press the keys" using your voice commands.

    I would have to install a mic for Cortana, As for the other I'll give M$ the feedback/idea.

    I have an AHK script with 2 lines:
    PgUp::Send {Volume_Up 3}
    PgDn::Send {Volume_Down 3}

    Also, you could use SharpKeys to remap those keys so you don't need a modifier like shift or function held.

    Run SharpKeys, tap the key and then select the key you want to assign on the right column - there are media controls.

    Does look promising. Thanks.
