where to start... a keygen was unzipped on my computer and unleashed a massive trojan dropper, wowfx.dll, win32 infection...

my control panel was gone and my internet connection would have been as well if i had not reassigned the network adaptors... but my knowledge is intermediate..

i read some other threads and tried to delete wowfx.dll and ended up creating a folder with the same name in safe mode in order to block that...

earlier today I ran a kapersky online scan which showed 10 viruses and 28 infected objects... after running combofix and reinstalling and running spybot and avg...spybot came up clean and avg found backdoor.Bifrose.cgg and quarantined it.. i still received a few errors in starting up as far as my computer attempting to run teatimer and i have a nero demo, a 'you don't know jack' game, and pc-cillin trend micro listed in my add/remove programs that i am unable to uninstall. the process is 'interrupted' and 'terminated' or subdirectories are not found..etc...

i had avg installed previously but i uninstalled it to install nod32 antivirus and and fixed all the problems it had found but today when i checked my computer nod32 said it could not connect to the kernel when i tried to run it and was no longer listed in my add/remove programs...so i reinstalled it and ran another scan...and fixed what it found...i went ahead and reinstalled avg and spybot from the links provided on this site...i also ran combofix and mgtools..and have attached the logs accordingly...

this one is way beyond my level of expertise...and spybot may say it's clean but all is not well with the world;)

    any help is much appreciated...

seeing as the avg found only the following about the backdoor.bifrose i am copying that info here and have attached the kapersky online scan info from earlier so you can see the progression...as it was run before the avg, combofix, or spybot:

Run thisDisable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Now Disable Spybot's TeaTimer

    * Run Spybot and click Mode
    * Select Advanced Mode.
    * Then click Tools and select Resident.
    * Now in the right window pane, uncheck TeaTimer.
    * Also while this is open, in the left column now select IE Tweaks
    * and then in the right pane make sure all the Miscellaneous locks are unchecked.
    * Now quit Spybot!

You have two anti-virus programs listed in your registry keys:
    C:\\Program Files\\Trend Micro\\Internet Security
    C:\\Program Files\\ESET\\ESET NOD32 Antivirus
Which are you keeping and which should we remove from the registry?
    You also need to uninstall:
    LimeWire 4.14.8
    PokerStars

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following:

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    * Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:

    * Now click the 'Done' button.
    * Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    * You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt

Download and save RenV.exe to Desktop (must be on the Desktop)
    * Doubleclick RenV.exe
o When finished, it will produce a new log named Log.txt on the Desktop.
o Attach this log to your next reply.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Hey Tim thanx i really appreciate your help...

I want to continue using the Nod32 antivirus... I tried to uninstall the Trend Micro but it says that the uninstall is 'interrupted'...i also have an avg7 that was previously installed in my program files but it is not listed in my add/remove programs...

i completed all the steps you asked...and will attach all the logs accordingly...

    few things interesting to note...

when it tried to remove wowfx.dll it was unable to complete this since i created a folder of the same name in the folder in an earlier effort to block its effects..
    i deleted this folder manually...

when the computer rebooted on the avenger install i received an error when the computer was rebooting saying it could not find a windows disk (not the system disk error) and clicking OK on these closed them and seemed to cause no ill effects... i also received an egui error of the same type and a processDll.exe error saying it failed to initialize when i ran the mgtools.bat...
    again with no seeming effect...

i am not sure how to get rid of the programs in my add/remove that i no longer have the initial install files for such as the nero demo and you don't know jack...but that's later...

    thanx again for your help..

You have AVG-Antispyware 7.5 ...you can keep that.

Are you trying to uninstall You Don't know Jack?
    This is on the desktop:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Celeron\Desktop\YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Volume 3 (2).lnk
Volume 2 and 3 are in your add/remove program list.

Again make sure TeaTimer is off and disable your security programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are done).

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.

Tell me how things are running.

thanx much, Tim... things seem to be running pretty smoothly...
when i start up there is still an 'egui' error but i believe that is because that file was removed previously and seems to be part of Nod32 antivirus...

having no other issues that i'm noticing...
i do still have trend micro listed in my add/remove programs...but just the name
no file size or anything like that...

the you don't know jack 2 is what i was trying to remove from my add/remove programs.. it was an iso i was using with a virtual drive...

i still have you don't know jack 3 on my computer..and that is fine:)

attaching the avenger txt... let me know if i should run any other scans just to make sure all is well..

    thanx again:)

You may need to reinstall Nod32 .....
Also do a search for trendMicro and remove anything it finds ....leftovers as it were.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
    * Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, C:\combofix.txt and C:\ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt logs that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    9. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    10. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
    * Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    * Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
    * How to Protect yourself from malware!

thanx alot for your help:) I deleted all the fixes i used...

i also uninstalled nod32 and installed comodo boclean, comodo firewall, spywareblaster and have avg (free version) and spybot s&d and ccleaner...

i have tried to run windows updates but it will not download the validation tool for some reason...but..it seems to have installed quite a list of previous windows updates...

when i installed the comodo boclean it did say that i have trend micro firewall and internet security installed but when i do a search there are no folders.. i just can't get it out of my add/remove programs;)

the only issues i've noticed now is that it takes a while to load spybot s&d and some programs stop responding for a few minutes when i load them...
but i know alot of this is due to the amount of movies i have on my hd currently (working on getting rid of those) and i need to install more ram on this computer...

i ran avg and s&d one more time and cleaned up a few tracking cookies...other than that everything is clean...
    thanx again:)

You are welcome....more ram is always good, disk defragmenting would be good also.

Then run CCleaner to finish up.

    Safe surfing...:)

You can always use a different defragger than the windows default one ...check the Top Freeware Picks on the front page.
