In-law computer. Plays a lot of online games. Attempted to access 'Great Arcade Hits' online, possibly launched through Facebook. I believe the file that started it all is MyiStream.exe in her Downloads directory at 3:02 PM. Several things ensued after that.

Given the date/time of incident, I booted the PC to Parted Magic and browsed the OS partition. I added .OLD to the following folders as they wer created/modified all around the same time of the infection:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Browsersafeguard
    C:\Program Files (x86)\RegClean Pro
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SearchProtect
    C:\Program Files\Level Quality Watcher
    C:\Program Files\SavingsbullFilter

Started a ClamAV scan, but aborted it approximately half way through.
It found the following file as suspicious:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\excelcnv.exe
This folder was created at the same date\time 'Browsersafeguard with Rockettab' was installed according to Programs and Features. Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office System was installed on the same day as Browsersafeguard. The user does not have any version of Office installed...

Booted into the Vista (x64) OS. Deleted an HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Wow6432Node\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run entry for SavingsbullFilterService64.exe at C:\Program Files\SavingsbullFilter.

Browsersafeguard appears to have been installed on 01/15/14, whereas the rest occurred 02/14/14.

Unfortunately, I did not install and run CCleaner at this point. I can run it and re-scan if necessary.

Ran all other scans in the order and method directed. MBAM removed several items on the Quick Scan. I'm running a full scan now and it is finding more. I'll wait to hear back before taking further action.

Attaching current logs. Thank you in advance for any assistance that can be provided.

    Hi there. :)

Are you deliberately set up to use a proxy?

No, in-law was not aware of it and didn't know she installed it. I think you may be referring to BrowserSafeGuard. I think it best to remove it given the circumstances.

    Uninstall the below:

    • RegClean Pro
    • Search Protect

    http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9659/rktigzy.gif Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate these 2 detections:

    • [PROXY IE][PUM] HKCU\[...]\Internet Settings : ProxyServer (hxxp=127.0.0.1:49245;hxxps=127.0.0.1:49245 [Country: , City: ]) -> FOUND
    • [PROXY IE][PUM] HKCU\[...]\Internet Settings : ProxyEnable (1) -> FOUND

Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    Code:

    C:\Users\Sharon\AppData\Roaming\Systweak.OLD
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\RegClean Pro
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Browsersafeguard.OLD
    C:\Program Files (x86)\RegClean Pro.OLD
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SearchProtect.OLD
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Temp

    :Reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{AFBCB7E0-F91A-4951-9F31-58FEE57A25C4}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{014DB5FA-EAFB-4592-A95B-F44D3EE87FA9}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{AFBCB7E0-F91A-4951-9F31-58FEE57A25C4}]
    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2782/4174320048_f01c448b32_o.png button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

Thank you very much for the detailed response!

Attaching the logs. I'm also attaching a couple of MBAM logs as it may have removed some of what you suggested... sorry for getting ahead of myself.

The PC seems to be stable. It is a tad slow, but I think that is due to the CPU and integrated video rather than anything else.

Here is the last MBAM log to attach as mentioned in the previous post.

    Thank you again

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Post-cleaning actions have been taken. Changed the primary account to a standard account. Created a different administrative account with instructions not to use it for general web browsing/game playing. Explained why it was in her best interest to do so. Recommended that she change all of her passwords.

Kestrel13!, thank you for taking the time to review the logs and provide your feedback. :)
