    Hello everyone,

    I offered my friend help with his laptop. He complained that when using Internet Explorer (or any other browser) some links would not open the correct page, but a page full of advertisements instead. Well, that couldn't be too bad, I thought. I followed the Malware Removal Guide removing a bunch of stuff and it looks like that problem is gone.

    But I noticed that the overall performance of my home network degraded. DD-WRT firmware on my router reports that this machine has close to a thousand of active connections! I have never seen anything like this before and don't even know where to start. I am attaching the output of "netstat -a" and I hope that someone can point me in the right direction.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!
    I'm sorry but you are not finished yet. This PC is still infected, so there is more to do which I will be posting soon.

    Why is this PC being used with no protection?

    Uninstall the below software:
    Ask Toolbar

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O3 - Toolbar: &Google Toolbar - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Ljagarexowe] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\udahilofejinur.dll",Startup
    O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [AntiVirus Plus] "C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe" "C:\Documents and Settings\Wayne\Application Data\AntiVirus Plus\AntiVirus Plus.55530.dll", start 55530 (User 'SYSTEM')
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {53F6FCCD-9E22-4d71-86EA-6E43136192AB} - (no file)
    O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {925DAB62-F9AC-4221-806A-057BFB1014AA} - (no file)
    O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe (file missing)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe (file missing)
    O23 - Service: Google Updater Service (gusvc) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe (file missing)
    O23 - Service: Cyberlink RichVideo Service(CRVS) (RichVideo) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\CyberLink\Shared files\RichVideo.exe (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it has expired or need to be updated to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it. Make sure that you scroll all the way thru the code box to copy everything:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    RenV::
    c:\program files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\reader_sl .exe
    c:\program files\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0\adobearm .exe
    c:\program files\Download Manager\dlm .exe
    c:\program files\IObit\Advanced SystemCare 3\awc .exe
    c:\program files\IObit\IObit Security 360\is360tray .exe
    c:\program files\QuickTime\qttask                  .exe
    c:\program files\Toshiba\TOSHIBA Picture Enhancement Utility\tospehk .exe
    c:\program files\Toshiba\TouchED\touched .exe
    c:\program files\Toshiba\Tvs\tvstray .exe
    c:\windows\ehome\ehtray .exe

    Driver::
    gusvc
    RichVideo

    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\domasaku
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\bapncx.sys
    c:\windows\system32\mhncache.dat
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\kgpcpy.cfg
    c:\windows\Sdareyeki.bin
    c:\windows\Blokuma.dat
    c:\windows\udahilofejinur.dll
    c:\documents and settings\Wayne\Application Data\mjusbsp\cdloader2 .exe

    Fcopy::
    C:\MGtools\temp\XPSP3\eventlog.dllmg | c:\windows\System32\eventlog.dll

    Folder::
    c:\documents and settings\Wayne\Application Data\AntiVirus Plus
    c:\documents and settings\Wayne\Application Data\975F34937B8F2B22FE4A86E1BF579026
    c:\program files\Spyware Doctor
    c:\program files\Common Files\PC Tools
    c:\program files\Free Offers from Freeze.com
    c:\documents and settings\LocalService\Application Data\McAfee
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\McAfee

    Registry::
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "VibeFireAlerts"=-
    "swg"=-
    "SUPERAntiSpyware"=-
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "Adobe Reader Speed Launcher"=-
    "Ljagarexowe"=-
    [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "DWQueuedReporting"=-
    "AntiVirus Plus"=-

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
