    Hey everyone,

I have a weird problem and i'll try and make it as concise as possible:

I use opera 11.10 as my default browser. it kept asking me to update and i kept saying no, but now somehow opera 11.50 has appeared on my computer, but ONLY when i click a link from my email or IM... and it's getting really frustrating. When i try and set the defaults, the only one that shows up is 11.10 and it says all my defaults are set to 11.10, and 11.50 isn't even on the list! I assume it's some kind of registry error....

So how can i change my default back to 11.10? I would switch completely to 11.50, but i feel strange using a browser version that doesn't even show up in my list of programs! and it doesn't have any of my bookmarks either..

    any suggestions?

When installing Opera, there is an Options button that will display this dialog:
    Opera_Install_01.jpg

If it's a fresh install, you have the option to install for Only the current user Or All Users.
The selection is grayed out and not selectable in this screen shot because Opera is already installed on my machine,
so it would just do an update over the current install.
It sounds like you have different installations for two different User Accounts.
You may have to log In to both accounts to Uninstall both versions.

Download and save the latest version here: Opera 11.50 Final

    Reboot after each Uninstall.

    Then do a fresh install.

I forgot to mention that you will probably want to make a backup copy of your Bookmarks before you UNInstall.

The name of the file is bookmarks.adr, but since you have Two installations, there will be Two copies.

While you are using the version that DOES show your bookmarks, from the browser's menu, choose Help and then About.
That will show you the location of the bookmarks Currently being used.

Make a copy of the file and after you have completed the new install, open the browser and check the location being used, as before.
Then Quit Opera and copy your backup bookmarks.adr to that location.

In Windows XP it is typically:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Opera\Opera\bookmarks.adr

You can do the same with your Sessions files.

How to disable check for new version of Opera?

By default, Opera checks for update every week and notifies you when there is an update.

To disable check for new version,
    Go to:
    • Tools..>
    • Preferences... >
    • Advanced >
    • Security >
    • Auto-update >
    • Do not check for updates
    • OK
