Multiple Windows Vista Errors

Hey all.

I'm running Windows Vista on a laptop, and I'm having a bunch of random issues.

When I first boot up, once Vista has loaded, I get an error message saying "Spooler Subsystem App stopped working and was closed" I hit okay, and it comes up again periodically. I also get another error saying "Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed". Usually when this happens, I notice that the start/task bar reverts back to the old '98 gui, with the new circle button trying to appear on top. I have also noticed really terrible lag, and upon opening the task manager, very high CPU usage (85-100%) when I'm not even running any programs. I also see multiple duplicate processes (namely svchost.exe).

I have also experienced a blue screen windows crash during this time, which has never happened before to me.

My antivirus have also been flagging things more frequently than usual, and some seem to be system processes? I've seen svchost.exe or something similar flagged by it before.

So, it's been about three days or so from when I first started having problems, but I figured it was something easy that would fix itself or could be ignored. Well, I was wrong. It seems like I have bigger problems. I suspect a virus, but I haven't found anything other than what AVG and Avast are stopping randomly.

I have no idea what's wrong with it, so any help would be appreciated.

 

Only one active Anti-Virus at a time, my preference is Avast, but AVG is adequate. I do have Avast and ClamWin on this PC, but Avast is the Active protection. Same goes for software Firewalls as well, more than one will cause conflicts...

 

Ah, sorry I wasn't specific on that part. I run AVG as the primary, and started running Avast as backup when the problems started happening. I do use one at a time.
