i'm trying to find out if i need all the versions of .net framework, i did a google search and read that the updates won't work without the original, is this correct? also below i have other programs that repeat themselves multiple times, do i need all these? thanks in advance! this forum has really really helped me over the last few days, i feel like i've learned so much and really have my computer protected now, so i want to thank everyone that shares their time and knowledge with all of us!

All those versions of .NET Framework are different, and they are required by different types of software.
You are no better off removing any of them - unless you have a critical shortage of hard drive space and you can't afford to buy an external drive.

    Rather than asking the question:
'Do I need all of these versions of .NET Framework?'
It is better to ask the two questions:
    1. Is my system currently working ok/performing OK?
    2. 'Am I so short of space on my system hard drive that I need to uninstall/rermove unneeded data?'

If your answer to question 1 is 'Yes', and question 2 'No' - then you shouldn't go any further and just keep those .NET Framework versions.

As far as the other items listed in your 'add/remove' programs screenshot, if you look more closely they are *not* multiples of exactly the same thing. They are updates and security patches.

    The same answer applies:
If your system is performing satisfactorily and you are *not* critically short of hard drive space (or money), leave things well alone.

    Hi

If your new printer you feel is going to install extra junk, then do a custom install and choose only what you want to install (if custom install is an option; i know it is on HP printers)
