Everyone has different taste in music...but when it comes to dinner parties, friends and I lean towards (what we consider) good background music and Michael Buble is always on our list of favourites because his music adds to the mood.

(FYI: Buble has been a chart topper in Canada and become quite popular in Australia...lately he performed for our James Packer and Erica Baxter week long $6M wedding celebrations in France.)

What sort of dinner music are you into for creating a mood?

Depends on how formal it is. I go to BBQ's and listen to the good stuff... Buffett, Eagles, Skynyrd etc., For a more formal setting go with some Sinatra or Dean Martin or even Buble. All good stuff IMHO

I have multiple playlists on my ipod. I don't do mood as much as I like to do music that I think the majority of the people that are going to be here like.

If I was ever going to do mood though, it would be jazz. It's about the only 'mood' music I like.

Gotta agree that dependent on type of gathering and people music should fit.

I quite enjoy some types of jazz music for mood also.

I always play some of the gentler music that I like because it should only be background anyway it doesn't really matter what it is (though I probably wouldn't play Iron Maiden!). :)

Depends on the age groups and backgrounds of the people.
Never go wrong with Hayley Westenra :)

:DYeah! I'm afraid I've never been into Iron Maiden for any occasion, but then to each his own.

Interesting getting feed back. As sd420 pointed out, depends if it's BBQ type gathering or a more formal sit down.

Personally, I enjoy most of the Afro-American singers and some of the old ones still going like Lionel Richie is great music imo - though not for dinner parties where you want to hear conversation and not have people dancing on the dinner table:D

Usually something laid back and chilled - sometimes some Frank Sinatra for livelier evenings, usually something like Nina Simone, Brian Ferry etc.....

Hmmmm……..yeah. Like your selection…Love Nina too, she’s great, and ’ole Blue Eyes a long time favourite – guess who Buble likes.;) Music is usually livened up a little after dinner as conversation usually livens up more then.
