Hey everyone, I'd like to expand my music collection by large. So anything that sounds good goes. So if you could post your favorite song or artist it would be nice. Also, any music forums, sites, would be cool too. And preferred generes are rock, hip hop, alternative, and anything related. thanks.

hehe if this could be moved to the louge (off topic) please

The old time's R'n'R will definitely not disappoint you. Check some youtube samples:
    Whitesnake
    AC/DC
and some headbanging :dood from Wasp

one of the few new bands that I like is Nightwish. The singer (ex singer actually) has such a beautiful voice accompanied by the harsh sound of metal.:guitar :guitar

  5. Petaluma

    Petaluma First Sergeant

    Head banging

    Megadeath--Rammstein--Metallica--Iron Maiden--Testament--Exodus(early)
    :D

    Rock:

    Collective soul--The Moss Brothers--Tom Petty-Iron Butterfly--Bob Marley-

    Hip Hop

err ummm sorry no help there ;)

And a well rounded collection must include works from the greats--
    Beethoven--Vivaldi--Wagner etc etc....

    An interesting list is here-

Killswitch Engage is great, although their older stuff with the original lead singer was best.

All that Remains is pretty good too.

You can't go wrong with The Ramones.

Some have listed some heavier music, if you like it heavy try Pantera.

As for good old fun Rock and Roll AC DC before Brian Johnson eh? Sailor?

Also older Rock by C.C.R. or The James Gang for mellower times.

I also love Black Sabbath, Ted Nugent (Pantera covers Cat Scratch Fever and you gotta hear that)

Newer stuff: Fun Lovin Criminals or Limp Bizkit.

Don't know if this is Hip Hop enough for you but try Cyprus Hill or House of Pain

Would you be interested in some ethnic music? Here are some excellent samples of Greek music.
    From the genre of:
    Syrtaki
    zambekiko
    chasapiko
and last but not least rembetiko (this is a scene from a movie)

They sound really nice to me but I grew up under the sound of bozooki (the instrument all the above are played with). Hope you like them.

An awesome CD I just picked up is Seediq Bale by Chthonic, if extreme metal is an option. They're a black metal group from Taiwan, who incorporate a few traditional Taiwanese instruments into their songs. They sound like a more aggressive, more focused version of Cradle of Filth.

That's quite a selection, ABBA doesn't fit but the girls are cute.;) except for Santana and the Ramones, I don't know the others. Mainly jazz and blues in this house now.

Love that one!!!! Wooohoooo!!!!!! In no particular order: Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Oscar Peterson, Wynton Marsalis, Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, The All American Rejects, Queen, The White Stripes, Ten Years After, Papa Roach, Jaco Pastorius, Weather Report, Eric Clapton and on and on... Just too many to list. :) BTW, did you ever see Zappa do the Hot Rats tour? Fantastic! I also like the album 'Shut Up and play yer Guitar!' Zappa really shines instead of the older Mothers records like the Yellow Snow one.
