I can't get Spybot to run while trying to remove the mustafx infection.

I click on it and it appears to execute, but nothing happens.

I have even tried th rename the executable to bla.scr and it still doesnt' help

ANy ideas, short of a complete reformat??

    COY

BTW: Wen I run adaware, I keep getting 2 or 3 files it can't remove
    they are c:\windows\system32\wsnpoem\audio.dll
    c:\windows\system32\wsnpoem\video.dll
    and some times c:\windows\system32\ntos.exe

When I search for them by booting to the recovery console, it says they do not exist!!
    THanks

    Hi

Skip the Spybot step and continue, once we have as any of your logs as possible then a fix can be found.

I can't run HJT, SPybot, Combofix, or CC CLEaner either

Can someone just tell me what regitsry or hidden files I need to remove
so I can stop this dam MUSTAFX from running on startup

I am trying to run an online bitdefender scan.

I'll let you know if it finishes.
I will have to copy any logs to a thumb drive and then upload them here later.

Isn't there some removal tool that can get rid of this dam thing.

I have also noticed the hostwl.exe file in Win System32 and tried to remove it.

    COY

If I have to I will pull the drive and connect is as a slave drive to remove any files I can't from within windows.

I Just can't believe with all the problems I have seen
others have had with this problem, that there isn't
some sort of removal tool created by one of the companies.

The procedure does not ask you to run HijackThis. Please complete ALL steps of the READ & RUN ME.
    • What happened when you tried to run ComboFix?
    • What about AVG AntiSpyware?
    • Did you run MGtools.exe as requested? Attach the requested log.
We have seen this problem many times and all the others had no problems running the procedure. That would probably mean you have additional problems or that whatever you already have installed in the way of protection software is getting in the way. Here is a recent thread: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=147947 Notice this person had no problem running the tools and he does how the same things you mentioned in your first message.

When you run combofix, nothing happens (you get the hourglass for like 2 secs and then nothing happens) Samething happens when you try to run Spybot.

I ran the mgtools on all User Accounts and it removed a bunch of files,

Right now it has been running a NOrton ONline Scan for infections since about 11:00 last night,
I will copy that info and the MGlogs and attach it here when it finishes.

What antivirus program do you have installed? If you had attached the requested MGlogs.zip file already I would not need to ask.

MGtools is mainly just a scanning tool used to give us information. It is not a malware removal program even though it may cause a couple (very few) files to be deleted. It does not remove "a bunch of files".

You did not answer my question about running AVG AntiSpyware.

We don't really need to see a log from Norton Online Scan as would probably be of very little use to us. The MGlogs.zip file is more important. Note the MGlogs.zip file will only contain information from the last user account that you ran MGtools on.

Please don't create or add anything to the MGlogs.zip file on your own unless we ask you too. history.txt is not a log. It is a progam history and is part of the installation.

Your scans did not run properly. The log from ShowNew.bat is very incomplete. Let's fix a couple things and get a new log.

Run this WareOut Removal and attach the requested log from FixWareOut.

Now put your system in Normal Startup mode as was requested in the first steps of the READ & RUN ME.

Looks like you, or someone else, or a trojan has deleted required Windows system services files and it will probably be necessary for you to do a repair unless you have a Windows XP CD to restore any missing files from. Do you have your CD?

Looks like you have quite a few problems. WareOut, Infostealer.Banker.C, Trojan.Virantix.B, and more. Let's see if we can make any improvements. We may have problems with some steps below due to the fact that many of your Windows Systeme Services cannot be run.

Make sure you match the below Service Names EXACTLY!!!!!!
    • Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
    • On the page that opens, scroll down to dlcc_device
    • then right click the entry, select Properties and press Stop Service.
    • When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the Start-up Type to 'Disabled'.
    • Now repeat the above to Stop and Disable the below Services (if you do not find them or get any errors, just continue):
      • dmadmin
      • dmserver
      • Eventlog <-- be careful. This one has no space inbetween Event and log
      • FastUserSwitchingCompatibility
      • lanmanserver
      • lanmanworkstation
      • mnmsrvc
      • NtLmSsp
      • PcCtlCom
      • TapiSrv
      • WANMiniportService
    • Click OK until you get back to Windows.
Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it
double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
After reboot look for all of the above files we had Avenger attempt to delete. If you still see them, delete them yourself.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the below logs:
    • c:\fixwareout\report.txt
    • C:\avenger.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
