I used to have a pathetic Duron overclocked 100 mhz and it ran at 1200 mhz.

My AMD 64 2800+ socket 754 which runs at 1.8 ghz, I only paid $108 for it.

it is overclocked to 3200+, it runs at 2.204 mhz

I think it is quite an improvement, it runs way faster, and it has no slow down, if I go any higher, it will switch to the other bios (my gigabyte mobo has dual bios)

I also boosted the cpu, video card, and ram voltage.

    My specs...

    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro
    Chipset: nforce 3 250
    Processor: AMD Athlon 64 2800+ o/c to 3200+
    Ram: 768 mb PC 2700
Video Card: NVidia GeForce FX 5500 128 mb AGP 8x

I used to have my 64 on an unoverclockable ECS motherboard, and it got shorted, so it didnt boot, then i returned it and spent the extra $50 to get a good motherboard like the gigabyte.
