Well it's the much awaited awful recording finally done!

The mic we use (yes single mic!) was used for a live recording that cost £6. Alas, we were missing our bass player tonight too!

oh i thought you'd have read between the lines but it was the vocals, no doubt I will have sounded different or better on Sat, but I just went on that sample mate.

sorry but I'd rather be honest :(

Good vocalists are always the hardest to find, and usually the weakest link for most bands. True here too.

Sorry mcadam, but you asked. It wasn't the mic. Even in a poor recording, the quality of the playing and singing can be recognized. Heck, I started my life listening to AM radio only, before FM came out.

I don't want to be rude, but that so called singing was atrocious.

I can't sing, and even I sound better.

Sorry, but there's no point lying or not stating the obvious.

The instrumental and percussion are awesome, oh mental one ;) I think your singer has the right idea for the punk/alternative music style, but he hasn't yet developed the strength and control of his voice to compliment what you guys are doing behind him.

I, too liked the instrumental part, but T.B.H., the vocals kinda sucked.

All in all, a good effort, though. :)

    Pretty cool!

Yeah, have to agree about the singer though. He's too monotone. If he put a little emotion into it, he wouldn't be so bad. He just sounds like he's talking the lyrics, not singing them.

    I really like it though.

Just tell your singer to put some emotion into it. He's just not feeling it. He's got to "let go".

Some of my favorite singers aren't really good singers at all. For this type of music, it's not the quality of your voice that counts, it's how you use it. There was a band called Grade, whose singer, Kyle Bishop just screamed his heart out, every lyric was filled with emotion. He was giving it his all, every time. If you listened to them once, you'd say "this guy sucks", but if you saw them live, you'd never forget that show. You didn't just listen to their music, you felt it.

My attitude toward vocals is, I'm not impressed by someone who takes lessons or is talented or has the "perfect" voice. I'm impressed by someone who puts 200% of themselves into what they're singing. If I want to hear Micheal Jackson, I'll go to Chuck E Cheese. If I'm going to see a band live, I want to be blown away. I want them to puncture my eardrums and stab me right through my chest. If I don't walk out of there feeling something, it wasn't worth my time.

I definitely like it though. My kind of stuff!

Maybe I'll post a link of my old band. You'll get a good laugh, if nothing else!:)

McA, as much as the comments here reflect the feeling of the vocals, it does have one good thing going for it...it's not country music. ;)

Crap! I've tried a few times to listen to it but can't. This time I could download it but when it plays there is no volume.

I have to qoute myself to clarify my level of stupidity. I depressed the power button on my speakers and it was a miracle. I don't think the vocal is bad. I think there is concerns with the mike and mixing. Both my daughters hung out with "garage bands" and I listened to a couple of them. The vocal sounded similar to this, yet the guys sounded fine when they sang acoustically.
