My CD Burner disappeared

    While attepting to do my weekly back up - My hardware list shows
    no CD burner (hp cd-writer 9000) which has been on the system since
    forever. powers up and accepts the cd, closes the door, and reads to
    (I assume) the next open area on the disk. Of course I can't re-install the unit from the manufacturers cd- since the drive "isn't there". Running a P4 @1.7 Ghtz, 512 mg mem, and windows xp home vers 2. Any ideas?:confused:

    Solved the problem! Did a system restore to 10 days ago, the CD Rom now works. Would like to know how & why it disappeared, but for now I'm happy! Confused, but happy!

    Odd, if it happens again, new motherboard drivers may help, but if it aint broke, leave it be :)
