My CDRW disappeared!

    I have a notebook... Compaq 2100. A week ago, the CD Drive (a combo drive), just disappeared from my system (bith from the bios and Windows). Assuming a device failure, I purchased a replacement and installed it. Still nothing! The light comes on the device, it spins on bootup or when you insert a CD, but nothing... Device manager does not list a cd device at all. I tried System Restore and add hardware... nothing! Any suggestions or thoughts?

    I would appreciate it!
