My computer acts like someone else is using it

Hi I am not sure if this falls under software, but I thought it was the best place to start.
Weather I am on the internet or not(I have dial-up) my computer acts like someone else is using it. When I am on a page or even in my mail box, the scroll bar on the side of the page goes up and down like I am going up and down the page, and I cant read anything. I have windows XP but not service pack 2 yet, i have anti-virius and advanced spyware remover, I dont know what else to do. Its not doing it right now, but it will be soon. If you need anymore info, please let me know, I have had my computer for a few years, but I am still new, so please explain things in easy terms for me!! If I remember correctly that was one of many issues with XP, so you might want to download SP2, I realize that that will be a pain on Dial-up, but you can down load it in blocks prior to install. This could also be a mouse issue some of the Older MS (and even newer ones) had this issue. Hope that helps moosenbabe

 

See if you can borrow a different mouse to try. Mine does that sometimes, and I'm running SP2. BTW, it's a MS optical mouse.

 

My thinking, mouse issues. Been a victim many a times.

 

hi, thanks for the advice, i havent got a new mouse yet, but i wanted to add that if i go into a place like where i set my cookies, it flips back and forth from high to low, and it also interfears with my screen saver. Just wanted to add that and make sure that sounded like what was happening to you. Thanks again!
