"My Computer" Feature

The My computer option has disappeared from the start menu. There is still a shortcut on my desktop but when I click on this, the window opens, but there are no drive icons etc present.I am using XP home.Any ideas? Thanks

 

Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Windows Explorer

See if that opens up with your drives.

Also try restarting your computer.

 

Right click the taskbar-properties-start menu-customise-advanced,make sure under my computer has a dot at the appropriate setting.

 

My computer window opens but it's blank-no icons!

 

Are all your explorer windows coming up blank (ie My Documents, Network places)?

 

No- just the my computer window

 

Download THIS file to your desktop.

Extract the contents, then double-click on the executable.

You must have Admin privileges.

 

I thought that would work but no.Maybe I'm not doing it right. Not shure what "executible" means. Thanks

 

Executable, are programs that you can run...I.E. Execute. They typically (nowadays) end with a 3 letter extion of .EXE.

Download Tweak UI and install it
Start Tweak UI
Click
the (+) sign near the My Computer section
Select Drives
Put
a checkmark near the drive-letters that you want to unhide
Click
Apply,

 

The executable is the extension .exe

You need to be logged in as Admin or it won't work.
