Today I turn on my laptop and things are kind of glitchy. I have to turn it off and turn it back on and that is when things are bad. It won't boot up properly, it freezes up on a normal basis, I can't log on to my computer in normal mode, Should I scan with antivirus programs in safe mode? I try but when it scanned system32 it froze. I can't identify what program it is due to the problems. What should i do? I have avast home edition antivirus, free edition of Spyware Doctor with antivirus, run windows vista ultimate on a new Dell inspiron 32 bit. I would fix the fact that my computer has malwarebytes antimalware free edition, avast home edition and spyware doctor and just have one antimalware but my laptop is already broken. I suspect it came from my friend's flash drive who shared it with other people who I think are infected. It started occuring on next bootup after I opened his flashdrive in my computer to copy something to it. They downloaded lots of programs on their computers which I think infected the files on the flashdrive. :cry

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!

Please READ everything below before doing anything.

The first thing you want to try doing before things get any worse is to backup important data. The below CDs may help but you will have to get help in the Software Forum on using things like these since it is outside the realm of the Malware Forum to do this as we are too busy with actual malware removal.
If you can no longer boot your PC in either normal boot mode or safe boot mode, there is not much we can do for you to remove malware other than suggest you scan the drive by slaving it into another properly protected PC; or pulling the drive and installing it into an external enclosure and performing the steps in our READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide. Note that if you have a laptop, slaving a laptop drive requires special hardware so this may not be an option for you. Or another option is using another PC to make CDs like the below and use them to scan your PC:

However, you may want to try the below if you have your Windows boot CD or the Recovery Console installed. This could possibly get your PC bootable again.

How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting

Sorry I figured out it was a software error and repaired it using recovery console or whatever!:)
