That is interesting about the password. I'm going to have to think about which password it might have wanted from you.

The USB is fine. I just always run short on USBs and have to format mine all the time. I only mentioned the CD for simplicity sake. You may never need the recovery environment again. I experiment on my PCs, probably more than I should, so I keep a lot of different repair discs around for testing and just find CDs more convenient than USB but if you are happy with USB that's great.

One last quick tip. I just found these instructions for creating a bootable USB drive on poweriso's site and it works for that recovery disc file (I tested it). It would eliminate all the diskpart stuff which is rather confusing and has less potential for choosing the wrong disk. Just in case you ever need to recreate your USB.
