My Computer: Unaccessable.

Hello.
I recently used the "READ and RUN me first" guidance to remove malware on my father's computer. I think it worked, thanks.
However, I am having a problem accessing "my computer"; the desktop icon no longer displays the comptuer as normal and when i double click it simply browses forever. I am also having problems when i use control panel. For example, when i click "add or remove programs" the list of programs enver appears.
I connect to the internet via a netgear wireless adapter to a hub. I cannot seem to make the program for the netgear to start and thus cannot access the internet on my father's computer. Any guidance would be a great help. Thanks Alot.
