My Firefox "broken" again after Update

I like/prefer Firefox, when it works, which in my experience is 99.9% of the time.

When it "breaks" in this manner though, I am TOTALLY lost, as to how to repair it.

A search (Google) turned-up info on how to deal with Firefox 3, 4, etc., however, I just went from 10 to 11 and "lost" my Bookmarks, Bookmarks Bar, and Firefox Add-on's.

A search here (MG's) turned-up alternate info, even though I'm sure you all have helped me with this very issue previously.

    Can anyone advise, please?

Have you tried to restore your bookmarks from backup yet?

Bookmarks > Show all bookmarks > 'Import and Backup' tab > Restore > Pick your date

As far as your bookmarks toolbar, you should make sure you have it checked to show: Right click up top in a clear area and make sure it's checked.

No ma'am and thank you as I am pretty darned sure this is the answer I was/am seeking and couldn't seem to find in the Mozillazine-KB.

I will perform the procedure now - Thank you!

Well, I was about tho thank you again, thinking we had the repair done, but upon closer inspection, I still seem to have the same issue.

I think the screenshots explain better than I would in my words, the real problem seems (to me) to be with whether I access this browser as an admin, or as a limited user.

My understanding has long been that it is best to "not" surf the web as an admin, however, if one doesn't do so every once in awhile, updates to browsers and other programs will never occur, correct?

PS - WELL ONCE AGAIN, ALL MY SCREENSHOTS HAVE ALSO "DISAPPEARED" (occurs to me as a related problem?) rendering me almost totally helpless in this instance, as I am exhausted from having to try to fight the technology with words!???!

I started several hours ago this morning simply trying to do a "Spring Cleaning" (maintenance) in my machine, including updates/etc.

ok, i found the screenshots, but only if i access the browser as a limited user, which i cannot do if i ever expect to update the browser...correct??

once again this (tech) all seems to be lost on me, as my understanding is/was the whole purpose being to "AUTOMATE", and "not" have to constantly "recall/remember" to perform sooooooo many time-consuming and laborious tasks...no?

You seem tohave your bookmarks toolbar showing again in the second screenshot so you just need to see if you can restore your bookmarks. Have you tried these steps:

Click Bookmarks from the menu at the top of the browser> Show all bookmarks > 'Import and Backup' tab > Restore > Pick your date

    Are there any dates available?

Your Firefox bookmarks and setting are BY USER. So you will only see the bookmarks and settings of the admin user when logged on as that user. Same applies to the limited user, and also to any other software either user may have installed.

So are you logged on correctly?

In looking at the admin (screenshot in Post #5, "mg_Firefox_Update_Problem.2.jpg 2 of 2"), the "About Firefox" says "Firefox is up to date" (11.0), but the limited user account (the only one I use to access the net), though it also displays "11.0", also offers the "Apply Update" button?

Seems to me once it's updated in the admin, it should reflect the fact in the limited account as well, isn't that correct?

sach2: Though I "did" manage to get my (personalized) Bookmarks Toolbar back, I believe the Toolbar you referred to in my screenshot was simply the standard issue (of 3) that comes with a new install...(this screenshot shows what I was looking for, previously).

I think you have to update FF for each user. I know I do.

So do you have all your bookmarks now?
