My IE8 Is Duplicating Favorite Links....

This has been a festering issue - And I have had no success finding any relevant solution using search engines. Hopefully, this issue is posted in the proper location.

A while back, I noticed IE8 (Vista 64bit) was creating duplicate shortcuts on my desktop (using FILE/Send/Shortcut to Desktop method).

As an example, let's say I was saving a link for a water cooler. My desktop would have two links. "Watercooler model A at w//.watercoolersonline.com" and another which was "Watercooler model A at w//.watercoolersonline.com and then the entire link path as well".

The longer titled link shortcut is always no good.

This also occurs when I simply add a link to my Favorites folder, via "Add To Favorites".


How do I stop this from occuring ? Hopefully, someone can help.


I can provide screens to clarify if desired, and fill in any gap of information missing upon request.
