I have an IBM T40 Laptop. This comes with an Intel Pentium M 1.5 gHz CPU. I downloaded the WCPUID utility and it shows my processor is running at 598 MHz.

Why is it not running at the 1.5Ghz? Is there some setting that I can change or am I missing something here?

I think its probably throttling back to reduce power consumption while running off of batteries. Its just one of the way laptop makers extend the run time of thier laptops. Now if your plugged into AC power and its still reading that low, I don't know what to tell you other than I would give ibm a call.

when you run a cpu intensive program, the cpu will go back up to 1.4-1.5ghz. if it doesn't, then yes, there's something wrong.
