OK, I just meant to disable the keyboard one, cos you need teh mouse to keep working.
Just to be sure that you did the USB driver reinstall properly (yesterday?), you should have done the following:

    1. Disconnect the keyboard.
    2. Go to Device Manager.
    3. Expand ALL Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    4. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers nodes, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time. Do the mouse last.
    5. Restart the computer (using the reset button).
    6. Plug in the keyboard and test.
So you did have Daemon Tools at one stage? Did you uninstall it, or just disable it?
    Does your CD/DVD drive work?

Here's something else (easy) to try (apparently power management can sometimes cause issues):
Right click on USB rodhub that has the keyboard listed under it..
In the popup menu, select Properties and then click the Power Management tab.
Now clear the checkbox called Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

I uninstalled daemon tools, I actually didn't used it. And yes my cd/dvd drive works.

I've done the first thing you wrote and also the thing with the power management.

I'll come back later and tell you how it is.

    Hmmm....
Ok. The failure of all those attempts, combined with the fact that the onboard keyboard space bar doesn't work makes me think that it's something down deep in the works.
Keyboard key assignments are made in the registry, so maybe it's associated with that.
All I can suggest at this stage is that you might try a registry clean up.
Try CCleaner (free) which you can download from here:
    http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_d4191.html
It's easy to use, and quick. It has a Registry cleaning option (see tabs) - run that. When it asks if you want to back up, say yes -- always a good idea when messing with the Registry.
I'll have to tune in tomorrow for the results. Way past my bed time. Bonne nuit. :)

    Hi

If I've missed this sorry but is this Windows 32bit or 64bit? and didyour M5300 originally would have come with Windows Vista, did you do an upgrade install from Vista to Win7 or was this a clean install?

Reason for asking this is I see no drivers for Win7 on Acers site, apart from a Audio one, I knwo Windows 7's driver data base is great, but its missed one out somewhere if you have a yellow ! mark.,

Or have you added alot of your own hardware, printer, smart media card reader, etc etc if you have unplug as much of the external hardware as possible, apart from Keyboard and Mouse and reboot and test your keyboard.

An IDE controller shouldnt upset the USB hubs, but never know, sadly that item doesnt list to anything, so I would need to Hardware Ids from Device Manager, so open up device manager and find that item, then right click and choose properties and click the Details Tab and then from the dropdown choose Hardware Ids and highlight and code the code from the Value box and paste it into a post.

Could you also attach the Speccy log as I would like to see what Chipset from AMD is installed as an option is while Windows will have installed one, I wonder if the generic one from AMD will help.

@GCwesq, great option the power saving of the USB hubs to turn off.

It is win7 64-bit, and win7 was with the acer.

Right now i only have my keyboard and mouse (headset soon.)

    The hardware id's is: ACPI\PNPA000 and *PNPA000

And i've attached the speccy file.

    Hi

Cheers, but for some reason I cannot open your zip file, its saying its corrupt, (may just be something I have been messing with today and have not rebooted myPC, so dont need 10 folk saying they can download it fine)

So could you attach the text file, they are small enough to attach.

ACPI\PNPA000 links to a RAID driver or Virtual Driver as in Daemon Tools etc so if you have any mounting application software still installed then please uninstall it, if Daemon Tools wasnt the only one installed, and Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Util to double check none are still listing and also delete the Daemon Tools folder in Program Files.

EDIT: for anyone reading aka pedobear702 or GCwesq, what I'm thinking is re-install the Chipset driver and reboot and see if that works, just need the Chipset info from the log.

    Text file is attached.

There was no mounting applications on my computer, and the program didn't find them on the list.

I'd better leave you with David GP to sort out the chipset installation; however, I see that the Speccy log* says that you have a keyboard plugged into your PS/2 outlet. Any idea why that would be? If you can find a PS/2 keyboard listed under your Device Manager, you could try uninstalling it.
BTW, are the keyboard and mouse still listed under the same USB hubs as before?

I could download it fine... well, that's only one person saying it! :-D :duck

    Hi

Sorry had to duck out yesterday after I removed the serial key from your log.

WOW that ATI RX780 chipset is a nightmare to find, ACER dont seem to have it for your model PC for Windows 7, they do for Win Vista, spend a few hours trying to find one from Acer direct but their support site is not forthcoming, did find the same chipset drver on MSI HERE (its the ATI System Drivers for 7xx/8xx/SB7xx/SB8xx Series (except RS690, 740) and its 300mb+ in size)), and looked at its .inf installer file for info on what chipsets it covers and yours is part of it, but its a chance you take in installing this one.

I would try what GCwesq mentions in uninstalling the PS2 driver from Device Manager.

Pity you dont have the Windows 7 DVD as it would be at this point a great time to backup your important files and re-install as I cannot think off hand what could be causing this that we have not tried out already. Does your Acer have a restore option like the steps HERE (may just want to give it a few days before deciding to do this, in case we come up with a fix)

One thing I did see when I opened up the drive pack was a USB Filter driver pack and I'm just thinking this may help reset the USB driver pack, but do do a backup of your important stuff first. I have extraceted it from the driver pack and uloaded to my Skydrive storage area HERE

Thanks for removing the serial key! :)

I don't know why it says i have a keyboard plugged into my PS/2 outlet. But i have a PS/2 outlet behind my computer.

Yes, i don't have the Win7 DVD :( But i've heard of a way you can make your own Win7 DVD by burning a file on a CD. I don't know if it's illegal but it could help?

I don't know if my Acer have a restore option.

Do you know where i can find the PS2 driver in the device manager?

Yes my mouse and keyboard is still in the same hubs.

And when i should take a backup of my files when i reset the USB driver pack, which files should i backup?

    Hello again.
It may be under keyboards (if you're looking at devices by Type) or PCI Bus (if you're looking at devices by Connection). Anyway, just keep expanding things until you see something with keyboard and PS/2 in it.

You should backup anything that you don't want to lose. That would be Outlook files (or similar), Word and other Office files, music, photos, software you have downloaded and don't want to or can't download again, etc.

BTW, I was thinking if you ever feel like giving up on this, or we can't resolve it, there are a couple of workarounds, for Word at least. That would be to set up a macro to replace all multiple spaces with a single space, which you could run when you finish a document, or you could set some Autocorrect systems, which may be able to convert multiple spaces to a single space, each time they are produced (not sure if that would work).

BTW2, I've been meaning to ask, when the problem occurs, can you stop it by rebooting, and then it's good for another 5 minutes, or does it stop doing it if you just let it rest for a few minutes, or do you have to turn it off overnight?

BTW3, what USB outlests do you have, and where are they?

  15. pedobear702

    pedobear702 Private E-2

I can't find the PS2 under the device manager.

And i don't want to use those kinda programs that removes spaces, because i get kinda confused when i use them.

Yes, i can stop it by rebooting, but then it starts again after the 5-10 minutes.

I'm not sure what outlests means, because i can't find it in the dictonary, but i'll try. I have 2 PS2 USB back on my computer (green and purple) and i have 6 2.0 USB back on my computer and 2 2.0 USB front of my computer.

And how do i use the USBFilter program?

Sorry, not 'outlests'... I meant 'outlets', as in USB ports. :-o You answered the question, anyway.

So no PS/2 keyboard under device manager, but it is listed in Speccy. I don't know what to make of that. :confused

With the USB ports on the back of the computer, do you have two close together near the top? Have you tried the keyboard in one of those?

DavidGP, I'm wondering if we should suggest going into the BIOS and typing some stuff there, to see if the problem occurs there also.:confused

  17. pedobear702

the 4 back on the computer is close to each other and they are in the middle.

I still get the spaces when i try the USB's back on my computer.

Now thats the weirdest thing ever, I just clicked to quote your post and I get duoble spaces in your text, when they are not in the actual post.... BUT back to a few thougths as you mention this occurance doesnt happen rigth away, which suggests possibly a 3rd party application, causing this (but it still happens in Safe Mode) so click start and type msconfig into the start search box and click the Startup Tab and disable everything and reboot, does it still happen?

The PS2 driver, may need to be turned off in the BIOS, so look for an option to do so, if not then in Device Manager look under the headings of Human Interface Device HID, Keyboards, mice and otehr Pointing devices.

    No problems

It should have and the instructions I linked are for your PC, but dont restore yet,

Move them to different hubs and reboot.

Always worth backing up before doing any major driver or software fix, and see below on Backups as I will type up something to do that should be easy for you to backup with in the short time.

Think Speccy has gotten confused or its seeing a live port even though its not being used, as some KBs have a dual cable connector as in USB and a PS/2

Agreed worth changing the devices to different hubs and maybe trying to boot the PC without the mouse plugged in,
yes again great idea on typing in the BIOS.

    Backup

This is a quick rundown and if you have a spare external HDD or a 2nd internal HDD and dont use the main C: drive or any partitions off that drive, or you can use DVD RWs (but this will take a few of them and take a while to do)

I have used the below apps and use Acronis True Image (however thats a paid app and it is a trial of 30 days now, so may suffice just as a backup while we try things)Acronis True Image 2011, Macrium Reflect and/or Easeus Todo

These applications allow you to make an exact image of the whole of your HDD so that in case of a failure you can recover the PC so that its as if nothing went wrong, all you need to do is to create the booyup CD that these aplications need.

The guides on how to create these backups and choose a full Image when doing them are

    Acronis True Image 2011
Easeus ToDo ~ Backup HERE Restore HERE

    Macrium Reflect HERE

    ________________________________________________________________

To use the USBfilter you just unzip and run the setup file, but try the above suggestions before the Backup guide, and let us know.

EDDIT: noticed you have tried the other ports but try the info on just having the keyboard plugged in and not the mouse, I mentioned above now coloured in blue for timelime.

In msconfig startup i have: Steam, Microsoft Security Essentials, PC Tools Firewall Plus, Acer Backup Manager and Realtek HD-Audio-Konfiguration enabled, and i will try disable them and come with the result.

And after i've done that i will move the mouse and keyboard to the other hub.

Fantastic, thankfully we held off on the re-install.

What does that app actually do, just curious now?

But again great that this is now solved, and between us we got there in the end, credits to GCWesq for some great ideas and you pedobear702 for finding the cause.
