Well, I'm just out of safe mode trying to deal with the damn cfmnd.exe or whatever it was. I dealt with it but now no matter how many times i restart or anything else I do, it just.. doesn't show up!
The procedures for Virtumonde and SmitFraud DID NOT WORK so please DO NOT REDIRECT ME to that sticky. I tried exactly 25 times. No avail.
I'm sure there's Virtumonde still in my computer and I CANNOT REMOVE IT by your procedures.
All I want to know, all in all in the end, how to restore my LANGUAGE BAR.
    Please.

What does the Language Bar have to do with Virtumonde and SmitFraud??? Did something tell you that you had one of those infections?

Have you follow the instructions in these:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306993
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/819783
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;825033

If those do not help, go into Control Panel and remove any secondary languages. Reboot and see what happens.

This does not sound like a malware issue so did you really have malware problems? If so, you will have to be more specific and state exactly what they were. Provide exact file names not guesses.

Well, I think it has something to do with them because I'm sure they're still in my computer. I followed the instructions on this forum for the SmitFraud removal and Zlob and Virtumonde many times over and over, and in the end everything seemed clean when I finally ran Spyware Doctor, AVG and Spybot S&D so I thought they're gone. And left it like that. It's been over a month since then. I noriced my computer was and still is terribly lagging and when I open Task manager and see the running processes, I see that there are some exe-s running that I had the same ones (like ctfmon.exe which thank goodness got rid of in safe mode last night) when I had SmitFraud. That's why I think it might have something to do with them.

When I did that, the Language Bar under Preferences was grayed out and unclickable. I don't know what I did, but once it was normal but when it opened the options with checkboxes, they were all greyed out and checked, including "Show the Language bar on the desktop".

The strange thing is I didn't close it by accident. It disappeared after I ran Spybot and after I rebooted after it fixed what it caught.

I have three languages installed which I use - EN, US English, AZ, Azeri Ciryllic (Bulgarian Phonetic) and Japanese MS-IME2002. I haven't tried removing any of them because I'm afraid I won't be able to set them back up again. But I'll try, thanks for the advice. In the meanwhile, if you have any other ideas, please, tell me. I can't use the hotfix because well.. my Windows XP SP2 is not genuine.

Maybe it's some bug, you may be right after all, but then, even if I have all possible options checked and on for an active desktop, even if I add an active desktop item, it doesn't show up. Is that a bug too?

    It completely vanished.

I removed the Cyrillic and the Japanese and after I rebooted the Language bar had completely disappeared. (As seen on attachment 1). Then I tried to show it by right-clicking the taskbar but what happened was.. see attachment 2. Then I went to the control panel languages thingy and added back the other two, hoping that after I Apply and OK, it'll show the language bar. But I noticed that, again, I can't go to Preferences -> Language bar. See attachment 3.

I'll try rebooting again but I doubt it'll show up after rebooting. If you have any other ideas, please help me. The interesting thing is that even if there's no language bar, it switches between the languages normally with Shift+LeftAlt. And when in Japanese mode, the kana input modes bar shows up.

We see many dozens of SmitFraud & Vundo infections every week and we have seen thousands over many months. None of these have ever had anything to do with the Language Bar. While I cannot rule out that a new form of infection exists that has affected your PC differently, it is just unlikely since that was not the goal of those infections. It is more likely due to other issues or maybe even another infection. The best way to know if you are still having malware issues is by having you do the below. When you do the below, skip the part that mentions Special Removal Procedures. I do not want you to run any special procedures. I only want you to run the main body of the READ & RUN ME.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
