I know it's a problem with NVIDEA - had it a few months back and sorted it, but I've gone 'quiet' again and when I check the files for it nothing happens when I try opening it. It's not giving me the option to repair - it's just offering uninstall.....which I know I'll probably have to do? I've checked the regular things, as in if there's sound from anywhere else/settings etc., but it's all the same - not even so much as a bleep when it boots up.

I'm not that technically minded, so can someone talk me through fixing this (even tho' I did it before, I'm wondering if I did it incorrectly given it's all gone belly up again). I've just had a quick look on the various downloads for NVIDEA, but I'm honestly not sure now as to what I should be aiming for?

I don't recall it doing an update recently, so I'm not sure as to what's caused it this time. Please excuse me if I don't get back quickly as there's the obvious time difference (given a lot of you guys are over the pond from me!) but I'll be back asap (said in my bestest Arnold Schwarzkopf voice!) ;)

On Windows, right click on the speaker icon next to the time in the bottom right corner. Next, click on playback devices. Make sure that the speakers that you want to output sound to have a green check mark meaning it is set to default. If there is no checkmark on the desired speakers, right click on it and click on set as default device.

I don't actually have a speakers logo at the bottom - I 'culled' several unused logos from down there months ago. Where do I go now then?!

In Win 7 to show hidden icons, click the up arrow at the left end fartherest away from the clock and select Customize.
Your volume icon should be in there.
Change it to show icon and notification.

If you don'the see a sound icon after trying plodr's suggestion it may mean there is no sound driver installed. Go to control panel and then go to device manager. Under device manager see if you have any items with a yellow exclamation mark on them.

Woop woop - sorted it! :) There still wasn't a speakers logo when I right clicked the arrow - gave me everything else but that! I went and checked the windows sound settings and one of the speakers had set itself back to silent, so once I'd upped that, it's all fine and dandy! Thankyou SOooooooooo much you guys - I love coming on here, not always to sort a problem, but to read up on other folks problems. One day NASA may ask me to go join them..... or maybe not?? Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou xx

You don't right click that arrow. It is a left click to see the hidden icons and the word Customize.
