My Laptop took a crap last night..

    And it really really sucks.

All I can say is, at 1:30 AM I went to bed after giving my laptop a fresh install of Ubuntu. Everything was fine, and I closed it (leaving it on).

Woke up today to see that it was now off.. Figured the adapter somehow became even slightly unplugged, and re-checked everything.

But nope, it will not power on at all. There's really not a whole lot I can do either, I imagine anyways. I thought it might be the adapter itself, and just so happened to have the part of the adapter that plugs into the wall. (I'm going to have to explain this ignorantly since I don't know the correct terms. The only part of the adapter I had brand new, is the part that plugs into the wall, and has the power supply (?) (boxy thing).. The other half (part that plugs into the laptop) was the original. So... I guess there is a very slim chance that I need to get a new one of those?

I don't know. What are my options aside from actually getting the damn thing repaired. It's not under warrenty of any sort. I'd hate to think something fried.

Sorry for the messy post, hope I got the jist of everything out there.

Is the battery dead or not using one?

    Well, a few theories here..

    1) The batter isn't dead, and the laptop is just fried.

    2) The battery is dead, and the adapter is broke.

    3) God hates me, and broke the adapter, drained the battery, AND for the hell of it broke the laptop as well.

I'm going to go with 1.

(Oh, and my battery has been weak for a while now. It only gets about 20 minutes of usage while fully charged..)

Oh, Oh ...I'm going for #4 .....wait, there is no #4 ....but that would be the ac adapter was going south and never could charge the battery completely before it took a dump.

So, if it was "4", pursay.. and I already attempted using "half" of a new adapter. That half being the one with the power supply.. That would mean that the OTHER, almost impossible to break half, was junk? I guess it's possible.

I'll have to see if I can buy just that part of the adapter. I've never looked into laptop adapters but I'd imagine they're semi-expensive, as far as laptop adapters go anyways.

Oh btw, my laptop is an HP Pavillion - ze2000.

Well, I tested another adapter (my friend had the same one), and it still didn't want to power up.

    Guess it's all internal.

    Maybe the power supply..

I hate to keep bumping this, but I'm really in need of some advise. Some wise advise.

I also forgot to mention that I even tested another battery that was fully charged..

If it ain't the battery or the ac power supply ....you'll need to start dismantling it and checking the hardware.

    I assumed as much.

Perhaps you could help me find a disassembling page for HP's.

    Pavillions, to be exact.

Maybe the easiest thing to check would be sure the memory is well seated, other than that i would get somebody qualified to do the job, laptops can be very frustrating. ed

Yes, I checked the memory earlier today.

I doubted it could be anything related to that, b/c like I said: I went to bed, closed the laptop (it stayed stationary all night), woke up, and bam. It was off.
