Hi, I just ran SmitFraudFix as provided in the "Read & Run Me first: Special Removal Procedures". I have attached the report log from the first scan as instructed. I am now going into the second step of cleaning the infection.

Attached is the second log after cleaning infected files using SmitFraudFix. Don't really notice any major change. still experiencing same problems as before: popups (pchelp), notices saying internet attack attempt detected, privacy and security are at risk. Will try next steps on Read & Run Me First.

I have completed all scans except for ComboFix. I experienced the same problem as user muukiithefinn so I just skipped running ComboFix and continued with MGtools.exe. Attached are my report logs.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [58c280b2] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\mqsrugmf.dll",b
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Mkkl] C:\WINDOWS\s?stem\t?skmgr.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Eon] C:\WINDOWS\??crosoft\??chost.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [QdrModule10] "C:\Program Files\QdrModule\QdrModule10.exe"
    O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - {07851C6A-1C43-41d9-8319-BC89154A8C00} - C:\Program Files\RcvSystem\httpdchk.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: yayaxvu - yayaxvu.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.
After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\avenger.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Hi chaslang,

Thanks for the response. Since I ran all the applications in Read & Run Me First, my computer has been functioning quite well. So far, no annoying popups for antispyware products and virus alerts. I just finished the additional steps you provided. I did run into some problems, however. Using Avenger, all the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry values failed to delete. An error message popped up before it continued deleting the others saying "Error: invalid registry syntax in command: HKEY_CURRENT_USER... Only registry keys under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive are accessible to this program. Skipping line. (registry value deletion mode)"

Also after reboot, another error window appeared saying: "Windows- No Disk...Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c"

Hope to hear from you again.:confused

Please delete the below folder? Note that the folder name contains unprintable characters that were found during the scans, but it may appear to you as normal characters when you locate it using Windows Explorer. I will add comments in RED next to the folder. Note the date of the folder which will help you to locate it:
    Code:
    C:\WINDOWS\
àDOBE Oct 8 2007 "àdobe" [B][COLOR=red]<-- may look like adobe[/COLOR][/B]

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_05\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
    O18 - Filter hijack: text/html - {07851C6A-1C43-41d9-8319-BC89154A8C00} - C:\Program Files\RcvSystem\httpdchk.dll

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Hi Chaslang,

I deleted the adobe folder and ran Disable/Remove Windows Messenger. Attached are my logs.

After running Avenger and rebooting, however, I still experience popups of windows saying: "Windows- No Disk..Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c". Only this time, when I "x" the window it would appear again, and this would happen about 4x until it completely goes away. Then SuperAntiSpyware would appear but doesn't fully launch (just the intro for the program would appear then disappear)? This only happens after I run Avenger and reboot. Overall, I have not experienced any other annoying popups.

This just happens sometimes after using Avenger to remove problems.

    Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. Uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware now.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
        • Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
    3. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    4. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    5. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    6. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    7. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    8. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    9. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    10. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
