I know this sounds like a post for the hardware forum but my issue may have something to do with malicious software on my laptop.

To begin, I have been using P2P software (for Mp3 and Vids) and have my hard disk partition into C:/ , G:/SWAP, E:/MEDIA and the other is J:/HPRECOVERY . Theyre all NTFS. The OS is Vista Home and only a month old. Now, i consider myself a little privvy to the techy knowlege and have established that a lot of malware has entered my comp thru the P2P program as I found a couple of worms and a trojan when I ran a scan with AVG earlier last night on the MEDIA drive (this is where I configured BT to save files to).

I was hoping members could help me establish whether there are any "leftovers" from them. The reason being that when I turn on my laptop, sometimes my MEDIA patition will show up as "Local Disk" and even though it would have been working fine prior to shutting down, it regularly needs to be reformatted now(?).

Anyone willing to look through my HJT log?

    Thanks.

    Hi Northern_Pride!
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

HijackThis doesn't give us enough information to give you a good answer. That's why we use the combination of scans presented in the READ & RUN ME FIRST. If you want us to help you, it would be better if you go through the steps in this guide and post the requested logs to us.

    Thanks.

HJT log: I'll upload the AVG results shortly, within the next 50-60 mins. But the print scr of my last scan should give you a fair idea of the spyware I came across.

    Cheers.

This is the wrong order. HijackThis MUST be the last thing run. You must follow the READ & RUN ME in the order written for it to be effective. Don't upload logs one at a time. Complete the whole procedure and then attach all of the logs. Also make sure you pay attention to step 3 since you are violating this rule right now. Also a snapshot is of no use to us if you are going to black out information in the snapshot. A procedure to fix your problems cannot be properly created if you hid information from us.
