My new toy..

A week ago this afternoon, I bought a 1996 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. It has a 32 Valve 300 Horsepower Northstar V-8. It has power everything, leather seats, dimming mirror, it's great.. But it has a cassette player for now.. I'm going to change that within a month..

My original plan was to get 2-3 years out of the car while I saved a substantial amount of money for something newer / nicer..

After driving it for a week, it blows the doors off of my 1999 Cavalier that I traded on it. It's comfortable, not terrible on gas (says it's averaging 16 mpg) though it calls for "premium unleaded fuel only" ($55 a tank) I don't mind.. I was thinking new Honda in a few years.. Now I'm thinking, slightly less used Cadillac. My car might weigh 3,700+ pounds, and look like a retirement home on wheels.. but it's great, explosive power (compared to my 2.2 4 cylinder) excellent ride.. and the computer tells me it's average speed has been 12mph.. It's got under 100,000 miles, and you could eat off the engine.

If having a Cadillac at 30 is wrong, I don't want to be right! :drool

When the weather gets a little nicer, and I can keep it clean for more than 30 miles, I'll post some more pictures..

 

Now, That is a nice toy, Pax. Very nice. I believe all Caddy's take Premium gas, I don't know why, but they do. My Aunt bought a new one last year, and said the same thing: "it only takes Premium gas".

I don't know... I think the average speed may be accurate... I punched it the other night, got it to 78 & the engine light came on, said check emission system... The garage said when I had it opened up, an exhaust valve stuck open, had carbon built up on it.. They said it's likely because I set a personal speed record for the car, haha... avg is past 20 now.. All my normal roads are 45-55.. I love my car!

Oh... Ilet it run idle for 30 minutes to warm up this morning... Used 2 gallons LOL

 

Just wait till you have to replace that engine. lol

You should be getting a LOT more than that... Did you take it to a Cadillac dealership? They would know. I never seen one that only did 12 mph.. That just doesn't sound right at all... :confused I would say something is wrong somewhere.. Has this car been sitting for any length of time before yo bought it? That could have a lot to do with it.. I'd would take it to a Caddy Dealership, and have them go thru it. Give it a going over- Check-up! See what they find... 12 mph is not normal... Not for Caddy..

 

Thats just the average speed. Like if you reset your trip computer (MPG, average speed, stuff like that) in stop and go traffic and thats all you ever drive in your average speed will be low like that now if you drive mostly at 55-75 (highways) it will list the average speed around 65
