Neat! Love the slimness and the rechargeable docking station for the mouse.

    Me too, its slinky :)

Sadly I found out its not going to be relrease until next Jan to coinside with the Vista release to the public.... I can wait as thats when I will be building new PC.

Plus the backlight sounds neato, dunno if it will help with my typing in the dark and the spwellong mistakes I make, typing too quickly.

Why is everything still QWERTY? I know folk are used to it but why stick to that really old standard? I just don't get it.

Reality is MS are no different to any other company they will at times all have a product that ends up being recalled...

I've had a older MS KB and mouse ( the Internet Keyboard Pro ) for 4yrs+ and they have been faultless, not to say this net one will be better, but it could be no worse than one from Logitech.

I took a looksy and think its beautiful. when the arrow key was mentioned I noticed that theres no numbers on the right...like most laptops. thats too bad, but I do suppose you can get used to that. all in all though, it is very nice

I thought the same Jaza, no numberpad... Mmmmm, while I could not do without it in work as I use it all the time for the Calc, I cannot remember using it too much at home,

I like the ide of a Navigation Pad, which acts like a laptops mouse pad, saves even having to use a mouse, dependent on if your using the keyboard on your lap.

One critique tho, I dont like the position of the Start Button key, I know I will hit that by accident alot, but I guess I will have to see one on the flesh so to speak to judge it fully.

It is geared up tho heavily to work in conjunction with Win Vista tho, so may not appeal to all, another minus.

well ayear from now everything will be Vista, so it will end up appealing..
I do have a question though Halo... you mentioned the start key..In fear of sounding stoopid...where the heck is that..I'm guessing the windows key:confused:
hehe, in the last few days theres been alot of keyboard talk and what certain keys do:)
The most annoying key for me ever was the windows key while playing Diablo 2...nestled between the Ctrl and Alt just waiting for you to push it in an intense battle.. lol, I would never touch it untill the panic kicked in and buton mashing occurs...of course sending me to desk top...ack, i died of course every time:D
    that make sense....? Start key?
    Jaza;)

Very true on next year Jazza, it will be products branded Vista this Vista that from all 3rd parties.

The Start button will be the same Start button you haev on XP which gets you into your Start Menu, a new twist on the Windows key as seen on many keyboards now... but that one mirrors the look of the Vista start button in design.

I hear you on some keys getting in the way in gaming I get killed alot because of that ;) but I do remember a keyboard being available that you could unplug the normal keys and pop in a new keyboard layout for many popular games which had the keys arranged in a logical mannor for the games you were playing.. forget its name tho SORRY :)

They moved the Windows key (yay!), but they left the original key there, and it's blank. Way to make use of that key. :p

I personally like the Optimus keyboard...once the price drops. :D

Nice one ShockTroop :) ... cheers that was one of the Keyboards I was thinking of for Jazza and his games, as it allows you to change the program of the keys, their was another which is allow you to pull the keyboard off and plug a new customised one in, this is the one ( just did a bit of searching ) http://www.ideazon.com/us/

30 foot range, at that price. Very nice. I was looking at a 100 foot range RF keyboard as part of a multi-media setup. It had full encryption on the radio stream and used a transceiver so it could ACK back to the keyboard and mouse. That prevents dropped characters, in the event of other 2.4Ghz devices "busting in" temporarily. As you can see, they're a bit pricey.:)

That is a sweet looking setup. I have had an MS Office keyboard for quite some time, and it puts up with my repeated abuse (I learned to type many years ago on a manual typewriter and still type like that) I have damaged a few keyboards here at work until they gave me an old Dell Quiet key that i have not been able to kill yet. I also havge a lot of sound proofing in my cubicle :)
