as said my pc freezes. after about 5-10 ,min
i just just opgraded. and had alot of problems with that.

but now it works kind of.

i cant go online. internet. so i havent activated my win xp yet.
    maybe that is why.

    and it freezes.

What software is installed? The freezing could be due to some software problems, a driver problem (also software) or due to flakey hardware (RAM, hard drive). Run some diags: download and run a RAM diagnostic and get the diagnostic from your hard drive manufacturer. Try booting in safe mode. If it still locks up in safe mode, it's probably a hardware problem.

it also locks op in safe mode.

Here's some RAM diags- the first few run from Windows, but if it's freezing, they probably won't help much. I recommend using a bootable one:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/AleGr_MEMTEST_d3257.html
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/MemTest_d350.html
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Memtest86_d1247.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Memtest86_d4226.html (.iso image for a bootable CD)
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Microsoft_Windows_Memory_Diagnostic_d3955.html (creates a bootable floppy disk, I think)

    GOOD LUCK!

    CAVALIER 1 CABINET.
    NQ GIANT REACTOR 1000W PSU

It could also be worth you checking windows files, using
sfc /scannow. - with your XP disc in the cd/dvd drive.
If , in the course of reconstruction something has corrupted windows files, it will replace them from your XP disc.
But, if your ram is o.k, we would possibly be able to help more more details, as xgc_xinsanity asked.

As Hopperdave has said, about the ram, have you tried with just one stick.

the only thing i can think of is there may be a problem with you chice of hardware. for example: back in the day of my first custom built computer i had a ASUS P4P 800SE and i was using a cheepo type ram i found on ebay for 30 bucks and i was using an nVidia GeForce 256mb card and i kept on getting the blue screen of death or my computer would just freeze up on me. so i looked into the chice of hardware and turns out that they were all clashing with my ram and causeing my computer to kind of overload and freeze up. mabey the same thing is happening to you? i will have a look into your computer part chices and post here if you have a lemon part or something like that alrighty? BTW: your computer sounds like it kicks A$$ (except for the freezing part)

i think i found out your problem.... your ram is running at 1000Mhz and your mobo can only handle either 800/667/533... this could be the problem or i could be looking at the wrong type of ram. I know it's XMS2 but there is so many different kinds it's hard to find the one you have.... could you perhapse post a picture of the ram it's self or even check the sticker on the side and tell me the speed?

    ok it says

    CM2X1024-6400 5-5-5-12
    XMS6405v4.1 800 Mhz
    1024Mb
    494910 0647003-2 XMS2-6400

i hope it makes sence to you.

    but i guess its a 800 Mhz

and i dident think it was cheap. and i have used this ram for about 6 months i think. and it worked fine on the other mobo. an asrock 775 dual-880 pro

your ram checks out and it's 800Mhz which is fine for your mobo..... hmmm i will look into it more then... until then what is the size of your power supply?

WOW! lmao at least your getting enough power to this monster of a computer... i am currently looking to see if any of your parts has a defective history.

    xgc_xinsanityx Private E-2

did you recently upgrade to vista? mabey you don't have all the right drivers in order.... because i am not seeing anything other than good things for your computer parts online.

i have 4 dayes to activate the xp on the harddrive.
but aperently i have activated it to meny times.

so i guess i have to buy a new XP. but i think i stinks.

and the harddrive on the one im using now is only 40 GB

but could that be why `?

  17. xgc_xinsanityx

    xgc_xinsanityx Private E-2

no, your hard drive has more than enough room for the O/S and files and other junk. not activating windows wouldn't make your comp freeze, and you don't have to buy a new Windows disk or "Certificate of Authenticity" as Microsoft calls it. Just call them and lay down the law! lol... tell them who you are and give em your address and crap and tell them all you did was re-format... the'll let your copy slide by their systems.

Are you running Windows x32, or, x64.
If x64, drivers can be a problem

Is there a click, from the computer, now, and again, or, even at regular intervals, if you listen closely, on start up, or, when it freezes?

  21. Storkraft

    Storkraft Private First Class

    no there are no kliks.

i tried today. and at first i thought it was fixed.

i had just activated it (over the phone)
and it seamed to work fine.

i played a bit og mark of chaos. and i ran 3dmark06 and scored 8946
and that was with just 1x 1 gb since the other was remuved to se if it was the ram.

i then began to install programs i like.

like folding. and so on.and i put in my sound blaster audigy4 card.

but now i cant even be on long enof to install the driver for it.

and i have put in a net card for PCI. and it can now come online.

Have you checked in Device Manager, after loading all that to see if there are any conflicting drivers, or, i/o conflicts?
Have you tried removing sound card ?
    Eliminate backwards, if necessary.

Also go into management console,--- right click my computer, click manage, and system tools, Event viewer to see what caused the last few crashes.
Double click on any highlighted, and you will get a clue.

well the sound card have i just put in.

and will remove again since i cant play enything on it at the moment

and when i try to get on it. it locks op shortly after it has (XP)loaded.

exept for that day when i could run 3dmark06 and play a litle.
before it crahsed. that was also the day i activated XP. over the phone.

Benchmarking, and Games push a machine, - have you any way to monitor temperatures?
If cpu appears overheating, most motherboards will shut down, at a given temperature set in the bios.
It could be worth going into the bios every time it shuts down, to check temperatures.
Have you loaded failsafe defaults, or, gone for higher default?
I know that the higher settings used to crash one of mine.

    baklogic The Tinkerer

With the soundcard, did you disable on board sound (assuming you have it , before fitting soundcard ?
If not, try doing that , and then, It could be worth trying to install sound card drivers, before installing sound card.

it freezes before i can install the driver for SB Audigy 4

but i have downloaded it now,

well i can see the temp with Asus Probe i belive its called.

and i havent seen the temp over 36C !!!

    as for defoults in Bios.

i use one i made my self, on this Mobo. i can save settings. i dont realy know how meny saves i can make but it works ok.

  28. baklogic

    baklogic The Tinkerer

Well, if temperatures are o.k then we have eliminated one.
You say you made the bios yourself ? That is beyond my field, but if you looked in Device manager
Quote----Also go into management console,--- right click my computer, click manage, and system tools, Event viewer to see what caused the last few crashes.
Double click on any highlighted, and you will get a clue.

Can you tell us what errors it shows , there ?

I suggest checking out the IRQ'S as well drivers for all those .
It looks like you might have conflicts. I am not the best to offer help with those.
If you go to accessaries, system information, and look at IRQ,s,/ conflicts.
report the conflicting devices to this thread.
Also, Go back into management console,--- right click my computer, click manage, and system tools, Event viewer - Application -double click on exclamation/warning marks, and report the exact wording of the panel that shows the error/fault.
