For a long time now,I've been having trouble with my 'my pictures' and 'my documents'. The only problem is it takes them FOREVER to come on rolleyes !! It takes a long time to show up on screen, then when it does, and I click something, the hourglass automatically shows up (usually, not always) and I have to sit and wait almost 5 minutes-sometimes more before what I clicked will show up. I don't have any other problems with them, just slow.

I'm on Windows XP. Outlook Express 6. Any suggestions ??????:confused

I just click the start button & then click 'my pictures'. It's slow whether I have anything else on or not,but it is slower if there are more programs on. I use cleaners at least every other day CCleaner,Advanced Windows Care V2 Personal, AVG (runs every day),Eusing free Registry Cleaner,DrvCareVista. Each of those are used quite often, but the AVG comes on & scans automatically every morning.
Not sure what you mean about 'applications at start-up'.
I'm not at all computer savvy !!!!!!

OK.....this is helpful information, thank you :)

Let's figure out what you have working when you boot the computer. Using CCleaner, which I see you already have, click on TOOLS down the left hand side and then click on Start Up to the right of that. List me all the items under the PROGRAM column.

Also, when did you last defrag your machine?

    Search Protection--YSearch Protection--Quick Time Task--ISUSPM Startup--AVG_8 Tray--Adobe Reader Speed Launcher--Sun Java Update Sched.
Believe it or not ,the last defrag. was yesterday. I don't do it 'as often' as the others though.

Nothing vastly untoward there, although I personally would not have Quicktime, Adobe Reader Speed Launcher or Sun Java starting at bootup as there is no real need.

So let's take a look at what process are running. Can you open the Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DELETE) and select the Processes Tab. Take a screenshot of that and attach it to a post here so I can see.

Scroll down to Additional Options once you have your "reply" window open and then click "Manage attachments" with the arrow. It will open another window that will allow you to browse your computer to add the screenhunter attachment.

Sorry...ignore that last post - I thought you were on attachments for this forum.

To get a screenshot using screenhunter, open screenhunter.

Click on the "Capture Now" button.

Take the cross hairs to the top left corner of the area you wish to get a screen shot of; then hold down the left mouse button and drag the cross hairs to the bottom right of the area you wish to get a screen shot of. Let go of the mouse button and it will capture that area automatically as a screenshot to your desktop, making it easy to find the file. Click the OK button that appears in a small pop-up window.

Attach this file to your next post.

I see it but it still won't click anywhere on the page-it stays an arrow. It says 'If you're using a pop-up blocker you may need to disable it . I've disabled my google toolbar pop-up blocker, but I don't know what else that would have one in it.

OK...let's try the PrintScreen feature of your computer. One of the Keyboardkeys has PrtSC on it. You need to press this and the Fn (Function) key to get a print of your screen. Once you have done that open Word or Notepad and paste the screen print in to Word by right click in the word document and selecting Paste. Save the file and attach that to your next post.

THANKS SO MUCH for ALL your trouble, but I just can't get this to work right with attatching (my simple mind.) I just remembered,my computer crazy brother-in-law should be here for Thanksgiving. I'll get him to look at it. It's not a Major problem, like virus or anything.
I so appreciate all of your thoughtfulness, and time.....

That's kinda what I wanted to start to decipher by looking at what was running. If your bro-in-law does think it might be malware then get him to work through this link for you http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

Otherwise, all the best and come back if you don't get it fixed and we can tgry some other solutions and ways around this :O)
