Ok first off this is more of a me me me sorta post i`m not that sort of person but i just need to share this with someone, or else i`m gonna go nuts lol.
    So please don`t moan afterwards.

Ok so it`s been bout half a year since i last had a netbook, last one broke, and this is the first time i have had windows 7 and *** have i been getting stressy with myself, and i just got real stressy with Microsoft/windows 7(for a thread i`ll post in a minute).
I want to be an I.T Tech and well before my last PC broke, i was doing fine, had lot of confidence computer wise, was also using XP, so was pretty happy. But now OMFDs i can`t believe how much stuff i`ve forgotten (hence my lack of posts)
Instead of feeling like a geek i feel like a dumb***.
It`s really stressy for me, as i feel like a failure, i got a C++ book and was hoping to learn to that language(was going to start tomorrow but now am thinking whats the point as i`ll most likely forget it all).
Anyone else ever felt like this? My brain also feels foggy if that makes sense, like the opposite to clarity, i guess you could call it un-clarity:-D but foggy`s a better description.

On a better not i just found out how to turn of that b***** annoying tap to click thing on the touchpad, and i feel alot more relaxed.

    Thanks for reading.:)

P.S Battery was also doing my head in, but have suddenly remembered what it was designed for *Face palm* :-D

All the time. Computer technology moves so fast, if you stay away for six months you almost have to start over relearning everything.

I also frequently feel very foggy as a side-effect of having insomnia, but I don't think that's what you meant. :-D

Well, if you don't like stress, forget about being an I.T. Tech., (coming from someone that's been a Tech for over 24 years). It doesn't get any easier, I'm afraid. But yes, it is a constant learning curve in all facets.
Yet another range of CPU's released in the last few months and another new O.S. on the way - so may as well get used to it.;).
I'm another one that gets a 'foggy noggin', due to Insomnia and working all night most nights. Plus I'm not getting any younger, ya know.LOL

    Hi

I agree with the posts above and if you feel this stressy about IT support then its not likely the best career move to make, especially if you find is not so easy to migrate to new Windows versions and or software as mentioned technology moves on and the best IT techs are those that embrace new technologies, whether they like the OS or app or not.

However I would hazard a guess that with some little patience and just taking things easy and not jumping in with difficult tasks like C++ for now, but red up on the basics of Windows 7 and other OSes, if you have the PC and a few licences for the other Windows versions like XP, Vista, 7, then install Virtual PC software and run those OSes in virtulaization for testing purposes (I have XP SP3, Vista SP2, Windows 7 and Kubuntu Linux in Virtual PC) and helps you just test things out and learn about the OS without killing your main Windows install.

    http://majorgeeks.com/VirtualBox__d6014.html

to list two Virtual PC softwares.

Also read up on Technet the Library HERE (same on MSDN HERE) as it has lots of info on various Microsoft software's, the Learn menu has some good videos etc but you may not have access to all functions without a TechNet account, which costs $$$s

Take some time to read fellow Microsoft MVP - Mike Halsey's webpage and guides HERE

Really sloe down and think of computing and IT as fun things to devote your time too, as if its not fun then its not worth doing.

Thanks dude, maybe it is because i`ve had few late nights, but i think it`s more to do with my diet.Trying to detox abit now see if that`ll help, don`t take this the wrong way but it`s nice to know i`m not the only one who gets a foggy brain, i feel a bit more normal now:-D

See i hate stress, but being an I.T tech would be a different kinda stress i think, cause i do love PCs and some tech, i love the technicality of it all and helping people when they`re like me now lol confused.I find shop work stressy aswell, well tbh i find pretty much this whole life stressy:-D
That`s something else i gotta read up on the 2nd gen CPUs tell ya what though these TVs are ******* me off, why o why do they keep bringing them out they irritate me so much.
I`ve done a bit of experience working in computers shops, and find it cool, although i wasn`t a tech, i mean i backed up the data, cleaned out the pc, installed some memory etc and liked it, i also like a good challenge and being an I.T tech is the only job that appeals to me.

    Not before posting:-D;)

Thanks for reply, i`m a determined individual and have loads of free time, so can get to grips with stuff easy, i think i`ve something like what you mentioned with my old desktop, i booted the linux disc and it lets you see what it`s like without actually installing it, i`ve never used vista, would love to though, so many people complained about it being so buggy.
I`ve just got a build your own pc book,as i know pretty much how to build one, but just need to brush up on it.

Thank you all for your posts, have helped me out:);)

@ LoneW0lf:- Yeah, don't let me put you off. If you love the work, (as I did/do), then it's all worth it.;) It's a hard, sometimes frustrating, but rewarding path, i.m.ho.

@ David:- Great post and excellent links, mate. :)

I agree with the others here, slow down and take it step by step. That will help relieve a lot of stress about the IT world.
