Recently I was looking at my system specs through system, under the general tab. I have 512 RAM installed minus 64 which goes to the dedicated graphics card.

So usually it says 448 (512-64) under RAM.

Well i just looked at it again and now it says 384. There is a decrease in performance of my laptop and my applications.

If you do the math, 384 means 128 mb of ram are being borrowed...since 64 of that goes to the integrated graphics card...64mb of my ram are missing in cyberspace!!!!!

so i did a little research...and found that under Adapter type it says "MOBILITY RADEON 9000/9100 IGP Series (Omega 2.6.75a)"

and under adapter information it says that the memroy size is "128"

so is the memory size the amount of ram its using from my total ram????? Can a 64mb ram video card have increased memory usage because of a driver?

wtf?? how do i turn it back down to 64...help!!!! computer is slowwwwwwwwww.

P.S. i tried system restore to a week ago and nothing changed.

if your using Omega 2.6.75a drivers then your not using original ATi ones but a tweaked set of drivers and even though I not come across them adding more system memory to the GFX card, its a logical step in increasing performance, having said that if your using XP then goto Device Manager and click Display and choose Driver from the Tab and click roll back driver, this should return you to the previous driver installed.

some systems have in the bios a setting to change the frame buffer (ram allocated to video). You may be able to force the video system to only use 64mb there

    THAT worked.

So does letting my video card have 128 ram actually make a difference?

only if you want to play some 3d games, but even then an integrated video solution like yours probably wont let you play much. To play games you really need a dedicated video card, however since you have a laptop? your options of upgrading your video are minimal at best.

For just browsing, emails, word processing and light gaming just leave it at 64
