My ram

recently my computer has been acting weird I don't think its a virus or malware but when I use certain programs my ram goes all towards those programs..its hard to explain usually photoshop when I just open it takes about 100-150 of my ram but it starts off taking 500 mbs. Also a game I play usually takes around 700 of my ram and it used to take around 500-400. I'm not sure whats going on with this computer of mine -_-.
Also I have 1 gig of ram and I usually see around 900 of it when I'm not really running anything or when the computer starts up but its around 700mbs lately. I've scanned my computer with kaspersky antivirus but it finds nothing wrong I was thinking of backing up everything and reinstalling windows but I'm not sure whats the problem.
I have a dell optiplex GX270, P4 2.8ghz and 1gig of ram.

 

What does Task Manager show as using the RAM?

 

if this is making your computer run slowly, you could try going into task manager and shutting down some of the programs that you do not use this worked for me on my other vista that has 1 gig and was running slow also you could try turning off some of the programs that run at start up e.g. messenger uses alot of ram at start up and also if you leave it running not logged in on the task bar it still uses a certain amount of ram.
