My Redneck 'Gun Club'

Went shooting today. First time I have ever gotten a sunburn whilst shooting. :-D We had Mausers, Mosin Nagants, some modern stuff. And, we had a hell of a good time. I personally now endorse the Limbsaver slip on recoil pad. I was cranking out the 7.62x54R rounds today, and not feeling it.

Was able to hit a 'skoal can' (about a 2.5" can) twice at a little over 50 yards. Took me 17 shots to hit them. They explode when you hit them. Fun stuff for a gun made in 1930's shooting surplus ammo with iron sights....

For reference, the two bolts on the target are 7" or so long. That is a small target at 50 yards. Heated the old gun up so much the cosmolene was oozing out of the stock! Good times.

Plus, I left with a few dozen freshly laid eggs... Gonna make me an omelet Sunday.

I love having Saturdays off, what did you do?

'New' old German Mauser is enroute to me, should have it Monday. Now the Mosin Nagant kicks. That dang 8mm Mauser, that is a beast! Limbsaver will go on that one for sure.

 

Are the skoal cans full or empty?

Nice, but hunting season is over with here. I am not a big hunter. Don't have a problem with people that hunt, but would be a waste of meat for me. So, I generally hunt at the store. :-D

 

Rabbits are also good targets and one makes a nice meal. No wasted meat, and it's a far better target.

 

With the calibers we were shooting with, there would not be much of Bugs left if I did shoot him. :-D

Sounds like you had a grand old time, I need to find me a buddy I can go shooting with. Unfortunately around here they are either "Only hunters" or arseholes lol

 

Ned: Look for gun clubs. Probably find you a nice balance.

Fred: Just aim for the head. Nice target, will avoid exploding bits.
