Got myself a HP preconstructed PC and pimped it out ;)-

So. I bought the HP dx2300 and will do some pimping. I bought myself the 8800gt and LG 760W charger and 4gb kit with CAS latency 3-3-3-3-8. Got a new motherboard and fans.

Now the preconstucted pc looked like this:
    1Gb RAM Micron Tech. 8HTF12864AY-667E1 5-5-5-5-15

    DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E4300, 1800 MHz (9 x 200) (For you that don't know, that's the worst c2d you get)

NO graphic card. Intel chipset family A.K.A. SHIT

    Motherboard ID 04/02/2007-Broadwater-6A79LM4FC-00

    It looks like this now:
    4Gb RAMSuperTalent T800UX2GC4 4GB (2x2GB) PC6400 DDR2 3-3-3-3-8

    QuadCore q6600

    8800gt Club3D

    790i ULTRA

Now... Let's play assassins creed ;)

Now watch, it won't work for some reason.. that'd be my luck..

I just bought a new gas range (stove) and it took me 3 weeks to find the fittings I needed to hook it up.. LOL

good luck with the computer, sounds cool.. just got one for the office here from Staples..

hard to find one with XP Pro on it still, so I only had 3 to choose from.

I know. I was just messing with you.

I thought downgrading caused some people to have issues.. I also heard that a lot of people were buying Vista machines, and hating them, and like you suggest, downgrading to XP.. I thought I would avoid this, and just go for an OEM install. Thank you for bringing it to my attention though, Your system looks sick, but I am excited for this one as well.. No hard feelings..

To get the most out of your 4GB of RAM (and SuperTalent is highly rated) you will need a 64Bit OS.....personally I use XP64 Pro and don't suffer any of the Vista instability issues:

    http://www.windowssecrets.com/2008/05/15/03-Keep-XP-fresh-until-Windows-7-arrives

Some talented Gurus are suggesting to stay with XP until the new MS OS comes out, implying avoid Vista altogether. Would be interested to see what benchamrks you can push out.

Also very importantly get yourself a decent after-market heatsink no good having all the good gear without decent cooling. The CNPS9500 still kicks arse in a lot of reviews......I like it and are at 28C at the moment.

Well, didn't know that. Thank you for the advise. I anyways intended to do a format before mounting stuff.
(still waiting for the damn ram to ship ^^)
