Looks like you havent installed all the essential "bits".

Did your computer come with a setup CD? What model is your PC?

Your screen shot of the Device Manager (posted at 20:12) shows an entry for SCSI & RAID devices. That's fairly sophisticated stuff, and unusual in consumer-level machines. Are you using devices in either of those classes?

If not, uninstall those devices. They could be tying up resources that your sound card wants to use. If Windows does see devices of that kind, it will re-install the drivers on the next restart.

You need to get some drivers for your motherboard. If you don't know the model number download this; http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181

Find the website for your mobo and download the drivers.

I'm surprised. <asus.com> didn't work? Oh, right -- IE isn't smart enough to add a "www." in front of that when needed. (If that's the problem, get a decent browser. Opera and FireFox will do much better.) Anyway -- try <http://www.asus.com/index.aspx>.

It seems that the Asus PTGD1-LA mobo is a board made just for HP, and is supported by HP, not Asus. Go here for more info. Or try this link. (You know, it's amazing what turns up when you google a model number!) :)

    Welcome to Major Geeks, Jeremiah.

If you're having the same problem, which of the fixes in this thread have you tried? With what results?

And if that hasn't gotten you anywhere useful, you probably have a different problem, even though it has the same result. If that's the case, you might want to read the sticky on asking for support, then start a new thread with a bit more information for us to work with. Your question is likely to be seen by more folks in a new thread than in one as old as this one. And the more folks that see a thread, the more likely it is that one of them will be able to help you. This thread isn't likely to be looked at by anyone other than those that have subscribed to it.
