My VIAO is Dead after a load of viruses..... No Installation Disk - PL

    Hi

    I have Sony VAIO VGN NR10/E got inundated with viruses / malware when my Norton stopped working. Within a couple days the laptop will not boot up at all. When I switch it on it goes to Microsoft Corporation screen (at the middle bottom) with the loading green bars moving across just above it.

    The laptop did not come with any Installation Disk. The fortunate thing was that I had created a 2-Part Recovery disk set but the unfortunate part is that they dont work either. After the options screen every single one of the options lead to the same "© Microsoft Corporation" loading screen and then just go blank.

    The machine stays on but the nothing is being done (it goes silent and the hard disk light stops flashing).

    The laptop has Vista Home Basic.

    The only solution I thought was that I need to re-install Vista but I dont have the Vista serial key. (Even if I had it, I believe it does not work twice).

    Please please help me bring my laptop to life again.

    I have moved your thread to the software forum, as there is nothing we can do to help you with malware issues until you have a stable system. You will need to find advice on getting your system to boot to windows first.

    Once you do that, you can start a new thread in the malware forum if you still need that kind of help.

    Tap F10 at bootup to start restoring to the factory condition using the hidden recovery partition.

    THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH FOR REPLYING.

    I have tried that but the only option it gives is Windows Recovery Environment.... Press ENTER to continue or ESC to cancel. If I go ahead it boots half way through and gets stuck and if I choose to cancel, it restarts and then gets stuck after the "© Microsoft Corporation" loading screen.

    Once it did say that the HAL.DLL is missing and I would need to use the installation disk. which I dont have!!

    Please advice.
