well, i didn't install any programs (that i know of) last week while it was working, but today, it doesn't want to power on. the power supply box blinks green, but no power to the ext. HD. connecting to the USB doesn't do anything nor does switching USB cables either. it's not anything special HD, just use it to store pictures and music. i tired a different power cable (not the box though since it is only for the HD) and still just a blinking. normally, the light stays green and the ext. HD has a blue light that stays on.

CPU= Toshiba satellit with vista basic 32 bits.

    anyone else have similar problems.

Have you tried any other harware plugged into USB ??? trying to determine if its the HD or a USB Port problem.

yea, everything else USB is working and functioning properly. with the HD pllugged USB and POWER, nothing was making it Power up. i have a power cord from the wall to a ?inverter i guess? and then a cord from that box to the ext. HD itself. the box normally keeps a steady green Power light that is currently blinking. i tried another wall cord to the box with no different outcome. i also tried another USB cord and port and no different outcome either.

allllll my pictures and music is stored on this thing!!!! :cry

I have just connected mine (haven't used it for a long time) Power on a steady green Light, connect USB lead to mobo, and green light blinks, this is the motherboard talking to the HD, when recognised green light stays steady so this sounds like a computer error if it is continuously blinking not a bad HD. Have you tried to connect your USB HD on another computer ?? Do you see any activity in the bottom right tray, (installing driver) have you tried booting computer with it already connected. Is your USB voltage set to max in cmos settings as HD's require more voltage than some other USB stuff.
