    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

86F, 60% humidity, heading up to 90, and sunny. Quite balmy for around here.

@ lostkiwi: I don't envy you your forest fires the last few years. Lots scarier than the tornadoes we get here, and smells worse too. Are you in town far enough to be relatively safe, or are you out in the boonies where you're very vulnerable?

We ended up having a monsoon of epic proportions yesterday. Bad enough that a bunch of cases we had outside in an alcove covered with sheets of visqueen held down with cement blocks had to be quick-like brought inside because the wind tossed the plastic and blocks around like they were pieces of paper. When I got home about 2 hours later, my clothes were still dripping water (unlike the guys, I couldn't take off my shirt and wring it out ;)).

Today, at 12:45pm, it's 86F with humidity at 79%, for a "feels like" temperature of 98F.

Thanks GT, we are spread out mostly, 2.5 acres and usually not all is landscaped! We have to do the clearing around the house (that's unecessary this year given the booming cottontail pop.) Are probably 4 miles from the foothills of the mountains to the south of us. Thing that got me mad was coming home a couple of days ago and seeing a horse property with the front yard so deep in horse manure that it was actually smouldering in places. Stupid. We had friends that lost their homes last year and others that were evacuated. Kids had "smoke days" instead of "snow" days. I had to take my daughter to a volleyball game at one of the high schools. Through thick orange evil-smelling smoke. Had to go or she would have been dropped. Anyway, later that night the whole area where we had been was evacuated. Morons.
Joys of California....Wind, fire, flood, heat, oh and earthquakes!!! Yep. Paradise!!!!!
So to answer you question GT, hopefully we are safe. And thank you :)

@SgtTibbs, bet the guys were disappointed...lol!!!

LOL! There was something mentioned about promising not to look... But the band was already there doing soundcheck, and while I trust the guys I work with all the time... ;)

And since my last post, it is now 87F with 74% humidity, for a "feels like" of 101F. And we're still an hour from the hottest part of the day.

    Edit:
Ack. While I typed, it went to 87F, 75% humidity, "feels like" 102F. *sigh*

I suspect that even though there's not one predicted, we've got a storm coming. Humidity is now only 59%, temp is still the same (heat index of 93F).

Oh yeah...just went and looked...there's an UGLY one near Chicago that's heading our way. *sigh*

I shall not repeat what friends of mine said during the school skiing.snowboarding trip in Austria.
let's just say they were snowboarding and repeating a particular sentence concerning the sexual preference of skiing people ;)

Meh...looks like it's going to be south of us. Works for me, I have a tree limb hanging from my power lines on the house that they're going to get to "later", since we didn't actually lose power yet. ;)

Hey, it's finally cool here. We were at 87 in the shade today, but by 7 tonight, we were at 72F. I hear it is going to be cool all weekend. Now talk about a lucky streak. :)
