I am using Sun's MySQL 5.1 on windows xp, I had it working, and I have no idea what i was thinking, but i went to change my password, and did the "Remove Instance". Then I was getting the 1045 error("MySQL Error Number 1045 Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)) Then i followed someones instructions, and now I get "current password", "new password", and "confirm", most of the steps didn't work. Lastly i tried going it in porgram files, and deleteing it there, in the hopes that the pw file would be in there. If there is another program, or away to get it working, can you please push me in the right direction.
