Got a computer that a little while ago failed to start. It would only get a little past the Windows splash screen, then show a cursor against black background, then would restart.

Performed repair installation of windows and it would boot again! but I found the antivirus would not open. I can't seem to start or configure On-Access Protection, nor enter the main controls (avast! Home)

Followed instructions of Readme. Spybot only found FirewallOverride in the registry, and fixed that. Continued with scans, Counterspy and BitDefender found nothing. Panda would not run. Here are all logs.

You don't show any signs of malware! Problems like this typically occur when the yearly license has expired. Either that or the repair install broke your Avast install.

Either way you should do the following steps in the exact order given:
    • download the current version ( I assume, you are using the free version): Avast! Home Edition DO NOT install yet!
    • uninstall the current version of Avast
    • reboot (don't skip the reboot)
    • install the new version and get all updates
    • make sure everything is working okay now.
