    Hi,

I recently upgraded my old Toshiba laptop that came with Vista to Windows 10 Home edition.
The upgrade took, with a few minor problems along the way, but I managed to fix them.

I have been looking at my C drive, and came across a file labelled "e8ca73028ad6057e0a". It contains 22 items; most of them starting with Windows6.0 in the label. I can find no information about this file online. I did find someone asking the same question on a Windows forum, but the response was inadequate. They didn't explain what the file was.

It looks like files left over from Vista, or from the upgrade when I installed it. Not sure what they are, but I would like to delete them if they are not needed. Any ideas on why they are there?

The screenshot shows the entire list. windows6 files.jpg

I would change the foldername, perhaps by adding .old, and seeing if it causes any issues. If not then it's ok to save a copy and delete.

Did you upgrade this from windows vista or windows 7 system to windows 10.Windows 6 is part of them two it must be an old file system left there for backup.I would probably leave alone.

This upgrade is the Windows 10 ISO that is available from their website. Since my laptop came with Vista; I didn't have the option of a free upgrade to Windows 10 from Microsoft.
I wasn't sure the upgrade would work from a Vista system, but I managed to get the upgrade going. I had to burn the ISO to a DVD, and install it from there (I couldn't get the USB to load at all).
One problem with the SD card reader was tough to fix. Windows blocked the driver for that, leaving it unusable. But, I managed to find the original card driver from Toshiba on a folder on my C drive. It contained all the additional Toshiba factory programs that came installed originally from them. That driver worked, but not until I restarted the pc with driver signature enforcement turned off.
