I have a Toshiba laptop here (DUH) running 32bit Win7 Home premium. Upon loading to the desktop, I get a "MyToshiba.EXE has stopped working" error along with the standard "close program" option, and the other regular error options. I did a little bit of Googling, but I can't seem to find out just what it is that "MyToshiba.EXE" is supposed to do....

    C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\My Toshiba\MyToshiba.exe
    It should be here ^

Like the above poster said, it is an application added by Toshiba. No it's not malicious. Yes it looks strange. ;)

Consider it Toshiba's version of similar products by other vendors:
    • HP Advisor
    • HP Setup
    • HP ProtectTools Security Manager
    • Dell Getting Started Guide
    • Dell Driver Support

I have owned Toshiba's for a few years now.
I have never heard of MyToshiba.exe until now.
Not anywhere, including books and mags that I have read.

I've just done a standard MS Windows 7 Ultimate Search for it.
    No results.
I've also just used a custom Search (that I prefer) and no mention either.
    Should I be worried? :-D

    NB: I don't even have a C:\Program Files\Toshiba ... folder.

Most Toshiba's don't have it. I think it was mostly a part of the older Toshiba models.

@ C1B3R5NYP3R : yeah - I read the exact same article. It simply says that it was preinstalled by Toshiba at the factory but doesn't tell me what the program actually does.

@ thisisu: I know it's not malicious, and I'm not worried about that. The reason I posted is that I can't seem to find out anywhere exactly what MyToshiba.exe is supposed to. I mainly wanted to know if I could safely disable/delete it without causing some type of problem or 'chain reaction' since Toshiba laptops generally have a lot of cross-linked programs that all kind of 'feed' off each other.... And this Toshiba is not an older model. It's less than a year old and was sold brand new with Win7 preinstalled which more-or-less puts an age of under 2 years on it.

Anyway - I disabled "MyToshiba.exe" and so far, all is well. As suggested above by thisisu, I think it is likely a support tool that would listed system specs and/or components, have help files for general usage questions, etc.
