For backup and data, I'm even thinking about the NAS solution. My question is whether the NAS box is separate for the operation of the "main" pc = if it is possible, for example, to download data (files/audio/video) from the laptop via wifi even when the computer is switched off? Can anyone advise any interesting option at home, according to their own experience?
Thanks in advance for any advice

A dedicated NAS device is an independent device, basically a server or dedicated backup computer, on your network.

There is no "main" PC - if by "main", you mean a "host" computer a backup drive might be installed in (or attached to) that is acting as a backup drive and that drive is being "shared" with other computers.

This means if, for example, your network consists of the 3 PCs, 1 laptop, 1 networked printer and the NAS, only the NAS and your laptop need to be powered on and running in order for your laptop to access files on the NAS. Remember, NAS stands for "network" attached storage. It does not stand for computer attached storage.

I map my NAS on both my desktop and laptops. That means I can read and write to files on the NAS on either as long as the NAS is running, It's as if the NAS were a connected drive only a hell of a lot slower!
