I was trying the NAV 2004 trial to see if it was worth the upgrade and I'm getting some e-mails deleted by the Symantec proxy.

It gives me no chance to download them, or to see if they really are viruses, it just deletes it from the server and I receive a notification that it has been deleted.

Now, the thing is some of the e-mails are from newsletters that I have received with no problems up to now and a couple from friends, who have resent them to my MSN account with no viruses detected (these are all computer literate people, so they would've know about viruses in the first place).

I see no place in Options to turn this off or change anything, and I can't find anything on the Symantec site about it.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can turn it off?

Well, I guess I'll post here since I found the answer.

The problem was not NAV 2004 at all, it was Norton Personal Firewall. When I installed NAV 2004, it asked me to uninstall Norton Internet Security since NAV 2003 was part of it. I did and only reinstalled the Norton Personal Firewall portion of it. Aparently there was a problem with NPF 2003 that it deleted messages, but it was fixed by an update. Well, I guess it didn't fix mine.

Sorry, that's way off-topic, but it still bugs me the guy left because I showed that his assumption was wrong. Get over yourself, you're only human.

Glad to see you found the problem. Randomly missing emails are an infuriating problem when you don't know the cause.

Awe, Ironman.......I had read your post a few days ago. I'm pretty much up on Nortons stuff. But when you said NAV......I had no answer. If you had said NIS...or Personal Firewall, I could have helped:( Guess I shoulda asked. Sorry:(

Well, I still am kind of curious why Norton Personal Firewall deleted my e-mails after being updated by Live Update. Is there a file I can download that has the latest patch on it? Or somewhere I can check what the latest version number is?

I do, not that it matters.

Open the Norton Internet Security program, and just turn off the "SPAM ALERT". It's right in the main window for NIS. That may help.
