I just reformatted after my boot got messed up so I went online to get the necessary programs... Spybot, Ad-aware, and McAfee (I have a subscription). I run the programs and Spybot S&D turns up n-case and elitum toolbar. It reports it can't remove them and it will run upon a restart but even then it can't get rid of them. One or both is eating up my bandwidth... which on dialup sucks b/c I don't have a whole lot to begin with :( .

So I have done what you have commanded; I installed and ran the arsenal of programs you recommend in the sticky. Also, I bought Spyware Doctor, installed Microsoft Spyware monitor as well as MS malicious software removal tool. I can't get SP 2 because it doesn't work with my dialup (I'm running XP Pro). I also downloaded the latest elitum toolbar removal tool which came out in late January which didn't work either. I can't seem to find ncase or elitum anywhere and as I understand it, they delete themselves and stuff. Attached is my HJT log file in case anyone wants to take a peek. I couldn't run the online scans in safe mode with networking because my dialup didn't work in that mode.

Also, thanks. You guys rule, keep up the good work.

Be sure you follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

One reason you keep getting infected is because your Operating System is way out of date. When you get your system clean you need to at least install Windows XP Service Pack 1a. I recommend Service Pack 2 but not util your clean.

Please allow me a moment to check your log.

Service Pack 2 doest have anything to do with the connection internet you use. If you mean you cant download it because your on dialup then you can request a free copy on cd from Microsoft. To do that click on the link below. I checked your log, Its Clean!

Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD

Look in Add or Remove Programs for the following and Uninstall if found:
