ndis.sys - moving from Malware (need help)

Hello all.

I've been getting constant blue screens due to a ndis.sys problem. After posting originally on the Malware forum, user wildwolf asked me to move the thread here, since they found my logs to be clean. This is my original thread (on the Malware forum):

Please, I would really, really appreciate if someone could help me with this ndis.sys problem. I can't stand the constant rebooting anymore, and it's been really harmful to some of my files. I'll ask any questions you may have, and I'll do whatever's necessary. Just point me in the right direction!

Hello all.

I am aware that there are other threads on the ndis.sys file, and I have read them. Since I've read some users say each PC presents a particular case, I thought I'd open another thread (especially since this is what the Malware removal guide says it's what one should do if he still had problems after running through the Read Me).

I started having problems about 2 weeks ago. I have only one computer at my place, and sometimes other people (chiefly my sis) use my PC. I suspect she may have done something to it (it wouldn't be the first time, really). It was around the 12th of August or so that I started getting blue screens where it said there was a problem with the ndis.sys file.

First I scanned my HD with several different antivirus and antispyware softwares, but there was nothing I could find. Seeing that nothing changed and I kept getting the blue screens of death, I reinstalled Windows. Twice. It didn't work. That's when I found the Malware Removal guide from the MajorGeeks website. I ran it all the way through, and it didn't work either.

I finally decided to format my Hard Disk. I did it. Twice. Again, it didn't work, since I got the blue screen a few times after that. I formatted my HD via the Windows Vista DVD, but I didn't delete my partition (there is only 1) before formatting it. I wonder if that makes a difference?

Anyways, after I formatted my HD and still got the blue screen I followed the MajorGeeks Malware Removal Guide again, just to make sure. It still didn't work, as I still keep getting the blue screen.

Some of this data may be useful:

I keep getting the blue screen when uTorrent is running and I use another program with it (it may be a browser, but often it's when I play a game or watch a video). For example, when I want to test whether I'll get the blue screen or not, I open uTorrent and then run Microsoft Tinker or open any .avi file I have.

When I ran MalwareBytes the last time I found a trojan called vista.exe (it didn't come up the previous times). I already took care of it with MB.

Although you will see in the ComboFix log that I have WindowsDefender on, that's not true. I made sure to turn it off by following to the letter the instructions on the BleepingComputer forum. If that is not enough, I also took a printscreen of the message I get when I try to run WindowsDefender (see below). So I don't believe it was on, albeit ComboFix's claim that it was.

I have also read that ndis.sys has to do with LAN cards. Mine is onboard, so there is no way I can take it off the motherboard. Plus, I've had this motherboard for 2 years now, and only 2 weeks ago I've run into this problem, so I can't see how this could be a LAN-related.

There is also a very important info that might help: for some reason, it seems I start getting the blue screen only after I download and install two Microsoft Updates: nVidia and ViewSonic drivers (my video card is an nVidia, and my monitor is ViewSonic). I am not saying these drivers are the cause of the blue screens I've been getting. I'm just saying everytime they happened I had those drivers installed (I didn't get anything prior to that).

In any case, I seriously need some help here. I'll do just about anything to get rid of this thing. I work with my computer, and I've lost some very important data already due to its wild rebooting. So I'm really open to suggestions. Maybe this is not a malware problem, but whatever it is, I'm in dire need to fix it!
