On my main desktop I've tried to go as quiet as possible and use SSDs in the main for OS and data, apart from a WD 3TB HDD (too expensive to get a SSD of that size), used a few older OCZ Vertex 2's but gained that cold boot issue with Windows 8 that some users have reported.

So bought a 120GB Samsun 840 yesterday to use for data and as a Virtual Machine drive for my other OSes, the best bit that I didn't know the drive pack came with was the USB SATA cable, neat as hell and I can use this with other SSD and HDDs as I use bare drives for storage like you would a USB Pendrive.

Kinda guess it doesn't take much to impress me

Thing that gets me about SSD's is you give them a couple of hundred quid and they give you a small bit of plastic and you thank them:-D

USB sata cables cool. I found a USB to Cat5 cable in the bottom of my cables box which I didn't know I had or had ever seen before, I thought someone has made a mistake and put the wrong plug on USB cable:-D I was amazed when I connected this cable to a win7 comp and it detected a new network port:-D

Small things fort small geeky minds.

Yeah I know.. few quid and I love the plasticky bit! well that's me to a tee.

I have to say I have to say I have used it more in the past week than I have a docking station as this is portable and just think having an old SSD as a USB stick device, you get upward of 60GB+ ( as the smallest SSD I have is 64GB) as a USB drive.

I tend to use old HDD/SSD drives as backup devices, copy data and store, I'm also at present building from older parts an ASUS P6T mobo a Windows Server 2013 R2 box as a test.
